Ordering M2 on the 21st

Hey fellas, I have some questions regarding the m2 Im ordering, I have a 135i and f30 currently so Im exicited. This is my first ordering session. I just wanted to get tips on what else I should ask for-so far Im asking for 2017 LCI model(hopefully wont take longer), alpine white, no mperformace exhaust, i want the gt haus, cb mirrors, diffuser, grills. No drilling front bumper when arrives. Am I missing any other important factors. Oh yea and MSRP when arrives, no mark up. Dont want to wait for 2018 model an pay extra for the s55 motor.

The 2017 MY is not LCI. That will be the 2018 MY.

What he said.

My biggest piece of advice is get EVERY SINGLE DETAIL in writing and signed by the general manager or owner of dealership, so you're not hit with mark-ups, extra costs on parts, etc. etc. etc. Saw too many of these happen.

Be sure to have an actual allocation. Without an allocation you have nothing. Many here have "placed orders" only to sit for many months without an allocation which means we just had a wish of a car. On the 2018 S55, that isn't going to happen so I would not get bogged down in rumors. If you want to get a CS model your likely too late because my guess is that is a limited car and most dealers probably already have them earmarked for customers. Plus that one isn't going to be cheap. The M2 as it sits is far more car than most will ever use and its a blast to own and drive so order the one you can get and afford.

My dealer was great, they did my deal at MSRP, car was on the boat I went in gave them a check and they didn't push for any add ons. I told them not to wash it or drill anything into the front bumper. They did exactly what I asked. It seems to me communication with a senior sales manager on expectations goes a long way to making things work.

A thousand times, this. ^

You can "order" until the cows come home and it means nothing without a production slot. CA's are sometimes not eager to share that information with you, nor are they eager to share honestly when they think they might actually get an allocation for that slot, which is the only thing that can turn your order into an actual car you receive. Hint: any estimate they give is almost always more optimistic than it should be.

At some point, this reality for M2s might change as initial demand gets filled. But this is the way it has been up to now.

So i should do the 2018 lci instead of just regualr 2017? but then I would have to wait until beginning of 2018 or late 2017? average?

This is what the wait lists are for. Dealers get a limited number of allocations every three months. Since there is a large demand for these cars and low production runs the demand far outweighs the supply.

To get an allocation at a dealer you have to call and find one that has an open allocation or sign up on a wait list so that you can get one once they become available.

As noted earlier, if you end up on the wait list make sure to get all the details in writing at msrp and have them sign it before you give them your deposit to reserve your spot on the list.

I would just place the order now instead of waiting any longer. The 2018 model might just be changes to the lights which if you do end up liking you can always replace them at your expense. I've thought about this as I'm close to getting an allocation and I wouldn't want to wait till post summertime to get the car. Also there's a chance you may not like the LCI change so newer isn't always better.

Also some people could be waiting for the CS model as well but I personally have no interest in that as the current model is enough for me.
