One of the things I love about my 1m and other bmws of yore was that they are a ton of fun driving at sane speeds. The 1m is especially fun at low speeds while it gets a bit scary at high speeds. Chalk it up to the size and short wheelbase I guess.
On the flip side I found the f80 m3 to be the opposite. Was wondering what you m2 owners feel about the m2 at regular speeds? Does it need to be going really fast to get the fun / adrenaline going ?

I had the DCT this summer and found that I was driving way too fast. I just felt it was pointless to drive slowly in it.
Now I'm waiting for a manual to fix that. I'm certain I will be more than happy. Haven't had a manual since my E90 320d -08 which I sold in 2011. I wonder if I remember how to drive a manual. |

DCT and I find M2 to be an entertaining car to drive at normal speeds. Very happy with it as a DD.
and I consider my taste in cars to be fairly extreme. |

Driving the car at low speeds which should be a violation and return the car to dealer asap LOL, you definitely need a manual to make it fun. Driving DCT at low speeds is a snooze fest and get bored real quick IMO.

DCT vs MT rears its ugly head again. What a polarizing comparison topic....
FWIW, 6MT FTW

Agreed 100%. The car is a blast to drive, even at legal speeds.

very fun, especially in winter, slideways on every corner. the only gripe I have is the traction control is too invasive even in sport+. they should have someone design the traction control in those higher modes for people who like to drive and get some wheel slip all the time. I don't mind if it cuts in hard in comfort or sport but sport + where it says it is limited in the dsc is still way too harsh. My comparison is the c4. The traction control is absolutely brilliant - it's as if it knows when you actually need help or when you are fully in control but just having a bit of fun.

I have an M2 with 6 speed manual and it's a blast to drive around town, especially in Sport mode with rev matching. I miss it when I switch back to my 328i (6MT turbo 4) in bad weather, but it's good as a long range 'lazy' cruiser. I don't track the M2.

I haven't driven one yet but from what I read/heard so far, I can say that M2 is car that you don't have to drive fast to have fun.

Love driving my DCT M2 at any speed. Those lightning quick up and down shifts are particularly fun driving around town, 0-40-50 runs are a lot of fun.

Abarth 595 Competizione? I've never driven one but my wife had a 500c which was hugely fun despite being stupendously slow lol. I can only imagine the 595 would pump up the drama to 11. Something about throwing a tiny little car around while ringing the neck of it's tiny little engine just puts a massive grin on my face.

Along the same lines, only better: my 1967 Austin Mini Cooper S 1275. I miss that car.

Don't know much about DCT, but the manual is fun at any speed. Slow around town or dipping on the highway. I find that any car with a manual is fun. I used to date a girl in the late 90's that had an 84 Dodge Colt, such a piece of shit car but it was a manual and was a blast to drive.

No rev match for you in manual unless you hold the traction control off for 2 seconds. And The clutch delay valve. Even in manual this car is not that fun at low speed. Try a BRZ. Now that's more fun at low speed

Haven't driven the M2 yet, but one of the most fun cars I've driven recently at "normal" legal speeds was the Mk7 Golf GTI. It helps that you're always going slower than you actually think, plenty of other cars were faster, but that had character and felt fun.
