Which means the warranty is going to be 3 years/36,000miles for virtually all M2s instead of the 4 year, 50,000 miles in place up to now. Thereby allowing BMW to pocket about $1,200 per car. Which, IMO, is the intended purpose behind this MY shell game.

I am in the order bank right now so I am guessing I will be a 2017. Better than nothing but I was hoping for a 2016. |

BMW of Austin (one of this year's 32 Centers of Excellence) is getting 17 M2s for the calendar year. Not sure what the distribution of 2016/2017 models is. That's from my sales guy from yesterday.

I think you mean the maintenance program will cover 3 yrs / 36,000 miles beginning MY2017 and fewer items (vs 4 yrs / 50,000 through MY2016). But the actual vehicle warranty is still 4 yrs / 50,000 miles for MY2017.

As of yesterday. My 3 closest dealers have NO allocations. Their HEA cars are on the way. Supposed to be here today, but we had a blizzard overnight.
I'm #1 on three lists. I'm going to be pissed if I cannot get into a '16 M2. When does the '17 SoP begin?

My dealer had received 2. My spot was #1 which I gave to another member here since I decided on getting another M3.

I also asked about extended warranty options since I'll most likely be getting a MY2017 and he said there will be changes to the extended warranty options but the details are not yet available. |

Tired of the miss information, went to dealer and asked for someone with knowledge of the allocations. Wish I could say I heard the same thing as other posts but no. April and May allocations have all been communicated to dealers, none for this dealer. I was told this dealer has 5 allocations for 2016. All are taken but they received a car, HEA? They are offering it for $10k over MSRP - LBB Exec 6sp still available. He claimed 900 total allocations for the US. But said MY2016 allocations will run until July/August. Can't believe anything, just a bunch of sales BS to keep up the hype, so frustrating.

Big surprise right ? 1 series sales was the most important factor, combined with M car sales. All of you waiting for M2 allocations talking about " My dealer is the biggest M dealer on the planet " need to make sure their big M car dealer also rolled some M235i out the door instead of stepping people to the 3 series from the 2 series. |

They definitely seemed to have about 5-7 allocations for the 1M which was far more than any of the dealers in Dallas and probably Houston also. Dallas BMW dealers don't order , stock or sell 1 or 2 series cars for shit though, they sell 3 series. So i fully anticipate far more M2 out of Austin. Seventeen sounds like two model years worth of cars but hey .. Good on them for selling 1 and 2 series. |

Not a marketing major so it's confusing, but what kind of marketing is this? To introduce and hype a great entry level product (M4 GTS doesn't apply), then don't want to or can't build enough of them to sell? We all know the 1M was an experiment so it was made for one year and that was it, sure. But the M2? Two scenarios possible IMO. First possibility, all of us are pissed off/worried for no reason and BMW is just getting started. Sure they won't be produced in numbers like the M3/4 but if you wanted one hard enough you can get one before end of production. Or second possibility, that M2 is in fact just a car to draw people to showrooms and BMW is willing to lose us, the minority of customers, as a trade off.
