Love it, especially from the back, not a fan of the steering wheel though, I swear it's design is very similar to the one in our 2007 Honda CRV.

If VW goes to pieces, BMW should buy Audi to market FWD cars with the charisma of a wheeled can

Can't wait fot the M version. What is it going to be called, the 1M? that will really make the enthusiast and members as well as original 1M owners go berserk . Imagine a FWD/AWD 4 door 1M, when the original was RWD and had two doors.

Looking good, but kind of outdated. It would have been really promising in 2005-2006, but nowadays it looks like a concept from the past. Nothing special about the body lines (most of the car looks like a combination of e and f 6 series) and lights as well..

When they do things like this, it makes me think they are going away from the drive and more for the dollar. I mean, kudos to bimmer pushing the envelope and always having interesting concepts, but, at what compromise?

idk... just some thoughts...

That was not even a consistent review, it was pretty much a shopping list of hatred towards BMW. They completely overlooked the entire purpose of the Active Tourer. Which from a customer perspective equals 70% of total BMW 2er units globally a majority of which are new to the brand with the Active and Gran Tourer.
welcome to the future of BMW! getting blasted in reviews and eventually people will start to lose interest. The reason why the BMW 'appliances' sell is because those people think they are getting something special...as BMW's reputation starts to suffer regular people will lose interest too.

I know you can't criticize products like this as its your job...I have no doubts they will sell to people who don't know their ass from elbow...but after several years it is the brand image which will suffer.

Well a lot of hate as we trip over into FWD debate etc.

Remember 'you' don't have to buy this vehicle but everyone that does helps BMW research and make you a better 340i/i3/i8/M23456. Same with the moaning about X1234567.

No these cars are not the 3 series we all grew up with but as long as BMW can keep the balance of business cars vs desirabile to drive cars in balance it doesn't really matter as they continue making a great car for your needs right?

The thread - it shows up as being on the F30 page. That's what appears at the top of the screen. Which doesn't match the title of the thread at all.

True but not everyone can afford an i8 or M cars and are "stuck" with 118d's. My 10+ year old E46 had better build quality and better to drive than an equal 1 ser and dare I even say it a current 3 - for me eps ruins the car bmw cant make one like porsche does- and it wasnt m cars that got me into bmw.

Again, because this thread is in the "General BMW News and Cars Discussion" forum which is in the "BIMMERPOST Universal Forums" section, it is shared throughout all Bimmerpost properties.

If you don't like the F30Post logo at the top of the page, feel free to change it by trying these links:

Yeah because on track performance is what matters to people buying MPV's? All they set out to do with that review was pander to the same narrow minded opinions displayed by some here. It's an MPV, review it as an MPV.

It's not an opinion based on the quality of the product, it's an opinion based on their idea of what a BMW is. Generally speaking the 2AT has been received as a 4 out of 5 star car. So whilst it might not be best in class (yet), it's already a good part of the way there, it's only sensationalist doubters that would consider that a blasting in reviews.

Its no longer important to state your image in regards to a review or rely on what the media are in most cases paid to do.
If people base their purchases on reviews that just shows how automated they have become. Cars should be bought on a personal level not because they say its good and person B has one so it must be good.
BMW is a global company so it produces products for a global market. BMW perceive themselves as a Premium car company , they do not see themselves as exclusive and that has been the case in most markets for quite a while.

BMW develop products that the customer whether traditional, enthusiast or new want. In this age all market segments are identified, as are potential customer demographics and of course customer feedback.
The BMW Brand has not suffered because they produce a 114i or even a 318i these models fulfill a lot of requirements especially for new and existing customers. Entry to the BMW brand is significant because if they like what they drive then the customer will stay.

There is a perception that BMW should be exclusive and not open up the market.
But to live with that mentality is no longer feasible for any BMW or any manufacturer. Manufacturers have to adapt to the market, the customer and the trends of the industry. BMW could not just survive with the 3er , 5er and 7er like in the 90's. Growth is important and an expanding product line justifies this. The advent of the UKL architecture provides a much more profitable avenue for the MINI brand and BMW. It also allows vehicles in the ever increasing compact segment to be highly competitive and appeal to customers that need extra versatility and flexibility.
