Said from day 1 price would be $49,900. People thought I was crazy for being low. I was only off by about $1k. Ppl have to understand BMW has to be competitive in a fantastic market or they will not see sales!

Of course, most of us here would though
Have to understand also that the M2 comes standard with leather seats and Nav. Add all that up and the M235i comes out to $48,545. $51k - $48.5k = a difference of only $2.5k!

1M started at 48k I believe.
Assume $3k increase over 1M in US.

Means ~A$130k for the Aussies drive away factoring in the AUD tanking too.

Did we decide what the 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times are going to be? Would love to look at what the objectives will look like on paper when looking at price relative to m235 and m3/m4

You make a good point. It's almost hard to believe. I myself thought it would come in at around $55k-$56k.

Well, in just a few short hours all these months and months of rumors and speculation wil become a thing of the past

I think it'll be fair to assume if you want an LSD on the M235i, you might as well just spring for an M2 (if markups aren't a factor)

I can't see it being 130k. 1M was 105k driveaway. Given the recent price drop of M3 now at 152k you get can get one at 140k . If M2 is 130 then M3 is much better value. I predict 115k

For low mileage 1Ms I don't see the prices dropping too much as it has the following advantages over the M2:

It's the original Pyrat
Low production numbers
Hydraulic steering
No fake sound
More aggressive styling
The story

More aggressive styling? I'd say it's more funky but definitely not more aggressive.

Has the 2 series not come down in price to adjust for slotting M2 between it and M3? Entire 2 series range here in Aus came down in pricing which I took to make way for M2

I'm not sure why you guys are so excited... $51k MSRP does not necessarily mean that's the sale price. I have a feeling dealers will mark these up about $10k for a quarter or two. Hopefully you have a good relationship and they'll swing MSRP.

I'd say a fair share of dealers can not mark up the price of vehicles though. Not much to worry about there IMO.

I thought all dealers could set their own sale price. Is that not true for BMW dealerships?

Sure, some may say funky, but there 1M has one of the widest/most aggressive fender flares than any other BMW besides maybe the Z3 M. Neither of us have seen M2's fenders, but I'm quite sure it won't be as aggressive as the 1Ms.
