So... there are 339 BMW auto dealers in the US.

Doing some quick estimates based on rumored numbers, if they are producing 10,000 cars worldwide in the 3 year run as discussed, and optimistically 4,500 make it to the US, that gets us roughly 1,500/year.

We know that dealers receive different amounts of allocations, but on average that would mean a dealer would get less than 5 allocations a year.

I am on the list at one VA dealer with nothing down (it was where I leased my 335is E92). I inquired at a DC area dealership that services my car about being placed on a M2 list and they want 1000 to reserve. They were unclear about refunding the deposit which did not sit well with me.

Contenders for next car are either the F80, M2 or a base (2.7L), optioned (PDK, PASM, SportChrono) Cayman (ringer car, but a jewel to drive).

I need much more info on the M2 though and that will hopefully fit the happy median while not completely robbing me of my money and self-respect

#1 on list now at Casey BMW in Hampton, VA.
Still on another list at Checkered Flag in VA Beach.

Super laid back and very easy process. Took my name down, discussed some M2 rumors, and made plans to start chatting once firm information is released and if I decide to go M2 or M3 route.

And then there is the Cayman...

Just a note about the Cayman... aside from cost, there is no weight disadvantage or mileage disadvantage to bumping up to the S, and you get quite a bit more hp and importantly torque. I would recommend X73, 6MT, and no sport chrono and you would be just above where the base cost would put you.

Thanks! I'll take a look. I would add the SportDesign Wheel and the upgraded seats as well but those can be missed and I would not lament it.

Thanks again!

$500 refundable deposit placed at my dealer today for #1 allocation!

The GM stated this car is going to be very special, now I need to try and forget about the car till it's really time to order!

Wow...nice work. I would have thought all dealers already had a list started by now.

Based on other experiences, not everyone at the dealer may be knowledgable about the list, that one has been started, or that a list was even possible.

Just filled out a deposit authorization form for an M2. It's for June European Delivery. I know a little premature but better late than never.

So. When I walk into the dealer in November, will I be able to get an M2 at MSRP? Will I be able to get it right away?

You might want to delay your ED for June and be a part of this!

My dealer has told me that I'll be able to do Euro delivery as soon as I put the order in for the car. Since I'll be needing winter tires here at home, I'll just have them leave them on when I buy them for the delivery.

At 4 dealers, but I think the 3rd #1 dealer needs to be crossed off b/c they are adding a 7% market adjustment for the new M2 and are still at MSRP for the F8x cars since they are "so exclusive and special."

The f80 is my plan B too.

I am having some anxiety in making sure I have all my bases covered on the '16 M3 purchase if the M2 isn't the car i want. Do you think $1000 over ED Invoice is doable for a ED date in late May '16???
Doable if you join our Bimmerpost ED TRIP!

Very very tempting, I'm planning on picking the car up and then heading to the 6 hours of Spa end of April/start of May depending on the schedule matching up to this years race, but if that doesn't work out a group delivery looks great.
