Canadian M2 Posted for 96K in Autotrader

I certainly hope this isn't one of the board members asking for such a ridiculous amount!

The used market for M2's in Canada is so scarce I wouldn't be surprised if it sold for close to that to some nob with way too much money...

I got an offer for mine that was $10K above what I paid for it. I told the guy it would take at least six figures to pry it off my hands, he declined.

No there's not... over 2/3 of those new cars are automatic listings for dealers or already sold and used as bait....

Compared to the US though, it does appear people are flipping them more often here, likely due to low supply and retained value.

Edit: holy crap there's one for $80K now!

What I am seeing is people who signed up on the pre-delivery lists, but when it came time to "pony up" didn't have the coin, or wouldn't part with it. Agreed with the other poster,... I'll take a euro delivery of the car I WANT and a photo-op at the Bavarian castles any day over a $15K premium followed by an immediate depreciation from list.

These are not low production cars!

Per capita, Canada has more M2s than US.

Seems like this dealer in Kelowna is selling this M2 with a 4K markup?

It's posted for $77,545.

Base MY17 M2 is $63,500.

Base: $63,500
+ DCT $3,900
+ LBB PAINT $895
+ SMARTPHONE CONNECTIVITY $750
+ MPE $3,500
= $72,545

The ad specifically states the cost doesn't include Freight & PDI and all of the other fees.

So it actually looks like a 5K mark up.

Am I wrong?

Nope, you are correct - looks like a $5K mark-up.

Are you guys positive they aren't including gst, freight, pdi, and admin on here? That gets me to about 5K in additional cost.

I thought msrp markup was illegal in Canada.

The one in Kelowna specifically says the price does not include all those fees

Could be a typo. I say that only because I did a quote on a 2017 and it came out to basically exactly that all in.

I thought the MSRP rules are at the provincial level but I could be mistaken.

But having said that, the dealers can usually get around those types of things by adding the M Performance add-ons, those would be subject to labour charges to install so they could in theory charge whatever they want. My SA told me straight-up that's what they would be doing with their HEA car, they loaded it up with MPE, diffuser, spoiler, mirror caps and front-winglets, carbon vinyl wrap on the roof and over-the-top stripes. They used it for promo at several events and at their track days for a year and now they're asking $80K for it.

I can't understand paying a mark-up on a car that was definitely trashed on the track and test-drives and with some very loud stripes but maybe there is someone out there that will go for it.

I missed that it was used. That's bullshit.

I will say that my 2018 M2 LBB, 6mt, no sunroof, MPE, XPEL, all in came to $78K. Of that, freight was a hilarious $4K and admin was $500. XPEL was $800.
