M4 GTS MDM
Hey guys.
I’ve seen a few of you mention the M4 GTS MDM coding. I’ve run Euro MDM for a while, but it’s still a bit too intrusive. How does this change the MDM mode in the M2? Just allows more slip, or does it change steering, throttle, and shifting? Thanks. |

If you only code it on DSC module it only changes the DSC control/intervention.
If you do not have basic car control experience I do not recommend it. You WILL get very sideways. |

I usually run TC off on track, but I really dislike Sport steering and throttle settings. And, Euro MDM is too intrusive. So, this sounds good to me.
Are there other steering or throttle settings worth messing with? I saw you’re running M2 CS steering coding? |

Yup. M2 CS. Nothing you can do for throttle settings unless you get a custom tune.

Do you find the M2 CS steering response closer to Comfort or Sport? I don’t like Sport steering on track bc it’s too sensitive when you’re at the limit mid-corner. Thanks. |

Steering is in the EPS Module under "Variantencodierung Normal"
Set to: F87CS or F82GTS (CS may or may not show up depending on your software) For the traction control (MDM) go into DSC Module 3CODIERDATEN_ALLGEMEIN (DSC CODING DATA GENERAL), 20 C_Variante_Fahrzeug_e (C variant vehicles) And change this to F82GTS (06) DCT I wouldn't flash to GTS as it is reported to cause some odd shifting behavior and is added via flash tune, not coding. This would require you to flash the car back to stock before every dealer visit if you care about not having your vin flagged and keeping your transmission warranty. So this will also affect DSC off performance or simply the traction mode?

It will obviously not change DSC OFF in anyway because there are no nannies to modify in DSC OFF...because they are all turned off |

Is it really a nanny tho? It's an "oversteer" mode.

Yes in my opinion, the LSD Lockup control is indeed a nanny. I've had it act once and it kept counteracting what I was doing. I oversteered going into a fast ( 85-90 mph Apex) long right hand sweeping corner on track ( with a friend of mine right behind me ). Before I even reached the apex, at the point where one is sliding a bit through the corner, the back end stepped out to the left and I counter steered and caught it , then the LSD changed and Iost the back end again, caught it again, then the LSD acted AGAIN and this time I didn't catch it and I went off track to the drivers side RIGHT of the track. My friend that was behind me said he clearly saw me make the error and then save it , then regain control twice again before I spun off. I've certainly made driving errors before , but making the *same* error three times in a corner is not something I do... My friend behind me actually downloaded the video and sent it to me Saying WTH happened there ?? We discussed it at length , shared it with friends that all have 1M and we both absolutely attribute it to the LSD/ and or CBC locking a wheel. |

I wasn't trying to get too technical I just meant that since MDM isn't active when the car is in DSC OFF the GTS MDM coding shouldn't affect that mode. That's my understanding, correct me if I'm wrong.

Correct. While it is only active in MDM mode ( it's called GTS MDM ), we technically are changing the DSC module to believe the car is a F82_GTS... how that affects full DSC off mode with the other electronic stuff is to be declared.. I too just realized that the GTS comes with CCB's doesn't it.. I wonder if anyone has felt any brake assist differences?

Have you felt the nannies still kick in when in MDM while running the M4 GTS coding?
If so, do you think they’ll react unexpectedly with the M2 when on track? |

Of course. Nothing out of the ordinary. Just makes for some loud giggles as I correct a slide or do a rolling burnout

Digging the M4 GTS MDM, but not a fan of the M2 CS steering.
I like the added heft and initial turn in of the M2 CS setting, but it has some weird back to center feedback when going over bumps while turning. Most ppl probably wouldn’t notice it tho. |

I'm using the GTS EPS rather than the CS. 0 complaints. I would give it a try.
