I finally tried charging via the points in the engine compartment, and I can confirm that it works perfectly. Interestingly, the Owners Manual recommends using this method only as a means of charging the battery ... so I may switch to this as my preferred charging method. I also note that the charging process was much faster - previously it took about 36 hours for the entire process to complete: I know that's a function of how depleted the battery is ... but I was very pleased with the sub-12 hour charge time it took. I grabbed some photos of the process, so I"ll post them up in the general electrics area so that others know it works and get an idea of the "how to" (its pretty simple). Cheers, |

I have used the under-hood charging points with a Battery Tender while my car has been in winter storage for the last 2 months, with no ill effects. I just leave the hood open to the first latch point, and there’s plenty of room to run the wires out the side without affecting the rubber seals. The car is locked under a car cover, and everything powers down, except the “ears” for the remote. When I check on the car every couple of weeks, the only out-of-the ordinary thing is a “hood open” warning on the dash when I unlock and open the driver’s door. It goes away when I lock the car again.

I've not had that message. just wondering if your phone is actually connected to the OBD, can't see the WiFi or Bluetooth icons in your screenshot indicating either is switched on.

So I tried it again and did what you said and it worked. Looks like the steps to connect that worked well for me consistently is to connect before the accessory mode is even on. Works like a charm now! Thanks all.

Got the Vgate and app can't connect?
Instructions say I have to get Dashcommand. Does anyone know of this? |

* FYI, steps to connect the adapter 1. Turn on the ignition in the car. (developer recommended coding when engine off, but seems like other people didn't have a problem with the engine running) 2. Plug in the adapter into the OBD port in the footwell on the driver side in your car. 3. Turn on flight mode on the iOS or Android device. 4. Turn on WiFi on the iOS or Android device. 5. Open the WiFi settings on the iOS or Android device and connect to the "V-LINK" network. 6. Open the app and check if "Vgate iCar WiFi 2/3/Pro WiFi" is selected under "Adapter" in the settings. 7. Tap on "Connect" in the start screen. |

Quoting from V.Smurf in post #6 - "I'd also endorse putting the phone into aeroplane mode - if you get a call in the middle of coding, that may not give good results. I used an iPad (it has a bigger screen so it was a bit easier to navigate), but I also put that into aeroplane mode as I didn't want other tasks (e.g. alerts, SMS messages etc) popping up while I was coding." But I'm not sure if leaving the flight mode off would interfere the coding in other ways other than being interrupted by phone calls, txt, etc. |

BTW thanks for the reply guys.
OK. So I got another Vgate. Was able to link up and make the desired changes, but when going back to the change(s) it reverts back to its original setting. Tried twice and it's the same. Anyone with this issue or what am I doing wrong? |

Hi look585,
Are you making sure that you press "Code", which is in the top right of the screen..? You can see this below ... when you press Code, you should see it saying that it is writing the changes and a progress bar appears.Sorry for checking the obvious stuff, but I thought that I'd start there Cheers, |
