Are you sure? there are websites across the US and europe that list it. I believe the parts departments ask for a VIN to ensure the part will fit via ETK to not cause headaches for refunds or returns. (I use to work in BMW Parts dept here in AU). There was a time where m performance exhausts were blocked from ordering due to not being compliant in our country.

It's been like that up to the E92 M3 GTS, last time I checked, not sure if anything changed since then but I doubt it. Maybe there's exception with the CS spoiler.: |

I wish they'd hurry up and announce this thing, so people could plan accordingly. My F80 lease is up in January, and I will have to come up with a "gap plan" for the time between then and when I could conceivably get my hands on the CS...

DM Boone: Are you going to get the CS over the GT4? I think being a current M2 owner that I may prefer the GT4 this time around. Don't know if I can get one though. Definitely want to get one or the other.

If the 718 GT4 has a true GT engine and an 8000+ RPM redline...well, it might be the best car they've ever made. That might be worth a financial stretch...but I don't know all the details, like how many they will build and whatnot. I am guessing both cars will be hard to come by.

I tried to order the valve cover breather hose for the E46 CSL airbox conversion, dealer placed the order and saw the warehouse had one (which makes no sense in the US, but w/e) and BMW cancelled the order and would not deliver the part and sent him an email stating I would have to show proof of ownership of a CSL. Parts guy showed me the computer screen. It probably depends on the part.
I had to order from ECS who was able to deliver it  |

Correct, BMW even promote cross and up-selling products in this modern age, hence the M performance range was born.
I don't think you made it up, just misinformed.

I don't see how the number of unsold M4s is relevant. The M4 is not an out of production limited edition model which is meant to be so desirable and special that it is worth a hefty price premium. Just for you I checked and there are about 50 M4 coupes for sale. I would check which are left over 2017s or placeholders for orders but that is hard to do quickly. Not sure how you get to 20/25% of coupes being CSs, that would mean BMW only produced a max of 12K units of the "normal" coupe which seems terribly low. Quote:
This will depend almost entirely on pricing; this is not going to be an E46 M3 CSL successor. Price it right 10k higher than a full option M2C and it will sell out. Price it into used 911, Cayman GT4, 718 GTS, F-type V8 territory and it likely won’t. I think the CS is perfect for people who don’t want to mod their M2 and want a more hard core car. If you plan to mod or think it’s an investment then I don’t think this is the car for you. The manual option is interesting and I think manual CS will hold their value well but wont turn a profit till 15-20 years time. |

It might be a way to mitigate the loss taken on your car... buying a cool car that will sell easily and hold it's value better than anything else... but I'm not perfectly sure about that one either. |

Seriously? Who's paying the asking price for this now that's it is published with rough figures? More than the m3 or m4cs. Or damn near same price. Exclusivity isn't gonna save it. Look at m4 gts.

I'm #1 (apparently) at my dealer. But if it's over $80k, I'll pass. For that kind of money, I'm going for the Stuttgart exports. |

For this über 2 Series car, expect "Uh, it's not enough, Sir/Madam" as soon as you have put your wallet back inside your pocket after having put M3/M4 base price money on the dealer table.

When my eyes saw the base price figure indicated at the top of an internal genuine M2 CS sheet (featuring a list of all standard features and options + summarized car features), my brain synapses failed to trigger a moment of joy inside my mind. It was no typo but, to be accurate, it said «±». So, hey, there is still a chance that the final base price for the M2 CS will come down a little.
