What is the state of the market these days? Reading the thread above it looks like 0-6% was regarded as a good deal pre-COVID. However the last few posts seem to indicate that you should aim for 10-12% off inventory or 6-8% off an order. Is that still true in early 2021?

You *might* score a deal on one that's been sitting - and it is the end of the month now, the best time to score a deal - so if a discount is a priority, I'd be combing through the available cars via the kilter.com search engine, and working the phone to try to land the best deal possible. Good luck

12% is probably wishful thinking at this point. I got 10% off in November, but since then the market has changed with availability going down and demand not letting up.

Reached out to a half dozen dealers in the Western US today... all said MSRP is the price, just two said to make an offer if I had a different number in mind.

If anybody gets 12% off from this day forward, I'll eat my Airedale.

12% is an insane price if it is accurate, and I doubt it's true. If that was the case people would just buy the M2c and sell it for more on the used market haha. Plus that would be a loss for BMW.
I did a custom order in January and got 3% off after doing a lot of searching. I think now any discount would be considered good. The best way to find out is tell the dealer you are ready to purchase today and have your payment/deposit ready, call multiple dealers. Don't believe the internet. I called like 30 dealers, and tried to get 6% off with money ready, I didn't hear back from any of them. One was willing to do 3% off so I went with them. And remember this was a few months ago. Now number of cars available are even lower. |

I just recently got 4.5% off on one of the special content editions. But I had to work that deal pretty extensively. Almost every other dealer out there said MSRP, or no thanks.

I bought an X5 last year and negotiated 11.5% before incentives. There are claims of 12% in Leasehackr. But when you get that much off I think it's the dealer's entire margin. They may not deal that much on M2s but they probably could assuming the margin is similar across models.

I was able to get a 5% discount on my M2C through European Delivery back in September of 2018. Unfortunately ED has been terminated. I was lucky to get that discount back then, it was a very early model of the US bound M2Cs. |

Some of the largest BMW stores in the US will sell you a car that's easy to stock/have in inventory for around 11% off if they have to. The only money they make at that point is the volume check from BMW each month. On a low volume car/limited allocation car a dealer will not treat the same way. Economics 101. Production is up on the current F87 platform this June. Dealers should have received their final allocations this month.. My advise is to secure a allocation spot ASAP and pay what you have to. Their is no promise that all the allocation units will be produced either. We sell our M2's at MSRP or very close to when we had them. I've turned away 5+ clients in the last few months because we can't secure any more cars. If I could get a build slot from another dealer it would be a MSRP deal. Best of luck and hope you can join the ranks...

I paid MSRP in the spring of 2019 when the internet chatter on the M2C was just hitting stride, and they were hard to come by. I screwed up and missed a chance at two discounted models at some dealer in the Dakotas. It was like they knew they weren't going to sell them to local clients, and were just dumping them to keep their volumes up/inventory down. I would have saved over $5-7k even with shipping charges to what I ended up paying when I found one in Cali. I've learned a lot since then, but have no regrets and am keeping the car I have indefinitely. I still ponder a manual version though, and I do like the special content package. If I was in a different personal situation, I think I would swap for the manual special content right now. Damn, I love these cars!

I bought it in March 2020, right in the beginning of lockdown. Probably had something to do with the timing.

Yep and mine was June/July with 9% off. My bet is that there was little foot traffic/at sales while people figured out what the hell was going on. I definitely think timing was everything for my deal.
