Mine is the same, and it is definitely from water. Got in my car when it was raining and it discolored the plastic.

BMW wouldn't cover it despite being under warranty and quoted something like $500 to replace.

I used plastic black restorer and it's mostly uniform and black.

Quality of these M2s definitely falls short of my E9X M3

How about a light sand/scuff and repainting that part specifically? Mine looks fine so far after 4 years.

Since it's not painted from the factory I can't imagine I'd ever find a match in not only color, but in surface.

Did we ever figure this out?

my 2021 m240i is looking awful. I didn't want to use chemicals on it yet, because I wasn't sure if it was caused by chemicals or not. I also haven't found any other posts on this topic. It's wild that it is ONLY this one piece of plastic.

Yeah, it's nutty, but when you consider that BMW doesn't make many of the parts, they just contact for them, it makes more sense.

I haven't tried the chemical thing on mine yet, I'm leaning towards painting them flat black.
