http://autoweek.com/article/wait-the...n=awdailydrive Well, perhaps BMW will send you a cool BMW USB DRIVE. At least your car didn't turn into a fireball... I wonder if the owner will get an explanation of what failed from FORD ... |

Unfortunately, BMW is becoming a victim of their own success. As their volume grows, they will stretch their man power, resources and suppliers and these recalls will become much more common. We saw that with Toyota where they went from the most reliable car to one of the brand with the most recalls.
So, next time we see in the news that BMW is having a record quarter in sale, this is NOT necessary good news to BMW owners. |

There are vehicles produced after July 11. Not sure if they are included in BMW's "recall". USNA: v786115-v786326 Euro LHD: V796245-V796314 and V841595-V841923 Euro RHD: V817333-V817513 |

1st - cars already sold to customers, they're making payments, but can't pick it up. There is a priority list for these people (I'm on it). 1-2 weeks for fix 2nd - customer cars awaiting pick up but not sold/no payments (either at dealer or VPC). 4-6 weeks for fix. 3rd - cars on lots waiting to be sold. Timeline undefined. 4th - cars for customers that already took delivery and are driving. Since it's not a safety issue, these are least priority as folks already have their cars. Timeline undefined. And Benzima their plan is to ship them all anyway and make repairs at VPC in Halifax (at least for CDN cars). |

Interesting....I wonder at what point did they switch to the "good" parts for production? It wouldn't make sense for them to keep pumping them out knowing of potential issues. My week 31 build went as scheduled and finished up on 8/3. So far not affected.

For the production, unless it's a safety issue, BMW will continue producing cars until the solution is found. It is "cheaper" for BMW to retrofit cars than stop an entire assembly line. I have no clue when the "new" part was introduced, but I am sure the production line will get the new parts as soon as they are available.

I saw on one of the posts that BMW doesn't know which diffs are bad so they are replacing all. Again, no info from BMW as to why the diffs are bad! There is still no open recall on my car so not sure that you can bank on that! Took dealer SA two days to confirm I was affected and would be contacted at some point. Doubt the SA would have done that much digging if I didn't have a personal relationship with CA and Owner and access to these forums! I see that vehicles after 7/11 are also involved. Anyone have a build date which is not on delivery stop? May be too soon to tell. Takes 4-5 weeks from production date for bmw to hit the east coats. Mine was produced 5/30 and hit NY port June 28. Delivered July 6. |

Same exact build dates as mine. Are you still at status 'waiting to be released to carrier'?
