It was offered at MSRP.
I hope BMW gets the Message.

Save yourself some future regrets and get the 2018 LCI: MY 2018 model, possible choice of a metallic color (LBB, MG or BSM) and creature comforts, updated head and tail lights (facelift), possibility to order/skip certain M Performance parts. Configure your own M2 PE with your 2018 LCI.

I purchased a 2014 Gt 500 new in 2014 and I have learned to track it at Fontana AAA speedway where no M BMW models that are OEM can hang with my times. With it's OEM GY F1 OEM Tires. Unfortunately, the 2 Gt 350R that Shelby put it's name on cannot hang with my time either.

And I'm not the greatest driver, I just found the limits to this car. People say slow is fast. I found that slow is slow. Smooth is fast.

Sure it has torque and power, but people think it's a "straight line car". But once the GY heat up to 150 degrees, they can stick.

However, I still think the M series is a pretty cool all around performance car.
I was looking to purchase a limited production Series 1M until the limited production M2 M was introduced.

I think BMW has noticed that the Series 1 is bringing prices of more than $10,000 above what they were new. Even with 50,000 miles on them.

The thinking here is that if BMW creates another much more limited model, they can create the frenzy needed to ask over the MSRP. Much like Ford did with the Shelby 500 (10k-20K)and now the 350R (25k-60K). Chevy did this with the Z06 and now the ZL1 , Hellcat, ect..... Which are now sitting at MSRP or less. And outdoors, not in the show rooms.

Unfortunately, not all the "newer" cars are 2005-6 Ford GT40.
That car has doubled in value minimum. $250,000 plus today for base model. Heritage beyond $450,000.

The big difference from the cars mentioned above is that the ZL9 Drivers option is an option on a M2 model. Not an entirely new car.

The Series 1M was just that a Series 1M. The Ford GT 40 was a GT40. Not an option on a sports car base model.

Either way, my first choice would be a M2 with the ZL9 option if it warrants the price in performance enough from the M2.

I will track it.

Sorry about the rant.

Best advise I have heard so far in this topic. People; there is nothing special about the M2 performance edition...absolutely nothing! Every M performance bit can be fitted on the normal M2 and there are just a few options left out the M2. That is all; it looks the same, weights almost the same, drives the same as any other manual M2 fitted with M performance suspension.

Handles exactly the same as any M2 with MPE suspension...and yes they handle like a champ

I hope BMW does not disappoint with the CS.
WOW, you are sounding exactly like me. The only two Porsche's I lust after are the 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 or the cayman GT4. The 997.2 GT3 RS 3.8 is a car I can not afford...a used GT4 needs to drop a little in price to be in my price range. But a BMW M2 CS maybe the right car for me...we will see...what the price will be and what the car specifications will be. A M2 CS priced as a cayman GT4, will not win me over and I will get the GT4 instead. For the moment; I'm deeply enjoying my normal M2 that is already such an awesome "daily" car

Whether a woman wears make-up, high heels, pumps or racy gear, in the end she's all the same person. And she knows very well that her sister who will show up in the future may become the (new) talk of town.

The word "Performance" feels indeed a little robbed here.

The people who payed 10-50K markups on any m2 are the ones getting robbed. If you pay MSRP for this and really want the manual seats then you only got slightly fingered haha.

I still couldn't justify the price but it doesn't help that I don't want AW. They should have at least offered a one off color and made it unique or made it truly track orientated with a half cage and the rebranded recaro seats.

Agreed 100%. That's why I am seriously thinking about buying the one coming in to my local dealer next week.

It's a good deal if you like AW and the way the car is configured.

Edited : misread handle, thought it said Encinitas Bmw ca. If you are not affiliated I apologize.

Most people here don't agree with you. And I am on two lists for the cs, both with explicit no markup as part of the deposit.

Maybe you at Encinitas Bmw will mark the cs up, but many won't. And do you actually know the price of the cs, or is that just a guess?

Also, you aren't exactly a neutral observer here being a Bmw car salesman, and I get your perspective. But most ok here don't like this version for very good reasons. I also think the collectibility aspect is not realistic. No one knows how many cs nor other special versions will be released in the future.

Encinitas CA M2+M5 Owner: is it true what forum fellow Black Gold claims about you ? Are you in any way whatsoever affiliated to http://www.bmwencinitas.com/ ?

Well, the least we can say is that you're an M2 Performance Edition enthusiast.

not in car business, bought my m2 from bakersfield bmw in the middle of nowhere calif, Encinitas BMW was sold out and wanted 10K over sticker for there real good customers.

M5 was a new "auto show" car which was bought from El Cajon BMW in san diego county, this is my gals car since day one, 60K miles flawless with no repairs so far and finally and you are not gonna believe this...my daily driver is a 335i which I purchased as "AD Car" from Century West BMW in LA...In late 2016 they ran an ad for 10 2015 new bmws which they were blowing out, best price ever for a BMW, it was a 2015 model, but is was 65,500 MSRP and I nailed for the ad price of $50,500.00. While I was there , I saw the white M1 with only 600 miles on the second floor of the building.

The performance edition is not worth 70K...I agree.....but at 61K msrp it is and will continue to be the best buy dollar for dollar out there for a limited 150 special USA ONLY edition. I stand by that. In the future if the price was competitive I would certainly buy from Encinitas.

FYI: BMW Portland has an allocation and it is still available. I was looking for the base m2, but they mentioned they had this available. I think they were asking 66k but since I wasn't interested, I didn't try and negotiate.

I am one that would buy this car IF I did not have to pay the extra $2,500 for the "M drivers" crap I do not want. Especially when you consider that the 1 day M Performance Driving class, if taken by itself, is $1,550 BEFORE my 20% BMWCCA discount. In short - I do NOT like being ripped off. Make no mistake, BMWNA is ripping you off with this $2,500 spike on your head intended only to further their outrageous profit line.
