F$&k it. I've got a spot in Houston - anyone want it for $7500?!?!

I'll take my place at the back of the queue for that much!

Exactly, I think the CS will be around 80k myself. 70k doesn't make sense too much. It offers too much compared to this "performance edition" to have a price of only 8k or so more.

Exactly!! I am too.

I'm getting the feeling that $70k isn't going to be realistic. That's what I was hoping for too, but I think based on where the M4CS came in, I don't think it looks good.

I don't know what I feel I'm willing to spend on the car however (not taking into consideration any dealer markup).

...Should discuss further in the other thread.

Anyone considering buying an M2 now should just wait for the MY18 LCI M2.This performance edition doesn't offer enough improvements to justify the increase in the price of the car IMO.

I completely agree but that is the problem (See my older post below). This is a marketing attempt to test the market and potentially justify a higher price. The performance edition is priced at $62K due to the limited production and not because the car really has significantly improved utility compared to the base M2.

This thought process is also the result of the obvious marketing tactic of the "performance edition". Damn, working in marketing must be incredibly easy if your target audience instantly aligns with your strategy. Instead of using the performance edition as your price benchmark, use an M4 for more appropriate comparison . How much more will the CS offer in comparison? I think the base of $69K makes a lot of sense from that perspective. Depending on what is included standard, I would potentially be okay paying low to mid 70s for a manual CS, but anything >$80K I will consider other options.

look for 75/77K minimum before dealer add ons like lo jack, tint etc.

It's a good point but it's not unreasonable to suggest that the M2 CS *may* be ~$75K Stateside.

Lets look at the pricing structure (US)

M235i=$44,700

M2=$51,700

M2 ( P) =$62,000

M2 (CS)=$75,000 ???

Upto and including the M2 Performance there has been a ~$10K hike in price for each performance variant.
Remembering that the M2 was brought out as an affordable alternative to a younger demographic audience,an M2CS might just be the ticket here.

Obviously this is my wishful thinking and flawed interpretation on the matter,T&C's apply

Don't forget that all pre-CS variants have the N55 and the CS is moving to the S55 - so expect the increment to be larger due to that.

Then there is always the business side... with the CS being limited edition, BMW knows they can sell all they produce swiftly even if priced at $85K.

Likely $75K to $80K. Some will walk away, but there are many more buyers lined up than cars to be made.

I commented that IMHO <$70K is not realistic for the M2 CS if that car is a retooled M2 with increased performance and several different design features. Not an M2 with just some 'make-up' and a (cool) hangover voice à la M2 Performance Edition.

I don't know what BMW is up to, but $75K sounds IMHO a more realistic ball-park figure.

As I pointed out in another post, back in the day the E46 M3 CSL price was E46 M3 x 150%. Not everyone's cup of tea once the price-tag was disclosed. OK, built in limited quantities (around 1400 - didn't make it to the US). Back then, if you wanted to hang on to your creature comforts and keep the significant other happy: get a loaded E46 M3 - OK as daily driver. If daddy wanted to have fun around the track in the weekend and didn't mind digging deeper into the wallet: try to get the E46 M3 CSL or some other brand in that price category.

So if BMW would use the same math, you end up at almost $80K in the US and almost €90K in Europe. That's what you'd be quoted for an M3/M4 with a couple of options (but not necessarily pay, as you usually get discounts for an M3/M4).

Nope. You won't find a "xxxx/xxxx" plaque inside the M2 CS. Alike the base M2: production as long as scheduled. No preset number. But don't expect mass-production. Let's not confuse 'limited edition' with 'production in limited quantities'.

You are correct, my bad, in limited production.

I'd still get an M2 if I could get an allocation, but not paying over sticker for any car, and not waiting forever. Wonder why BMW has constrained these so much when they obviously could sell more.

I was never a huge 911 fan and during the 90's got a chance of driving a couple of them long enough to get familiar with it. I loved the way they look, but was not digging the light front end feel.

Then the 996 came out and it was less than impressive in appearance, and I never even considered a 911 anymore. However the new 991's just got my attention again. Love the styling again, and it sounds like Porsche has continuously moved the engine further forward, so it is starting to behave a lot more like a mid engine car, instead of that pendulum engine hanging over the rear wheel thingy.

I still would have to actually drive one myself to know if I'd like it. I was riding shotgun in a GT3 at the track for a session and was pretty impressed, then again that was a GT3.

Anyway, the point was that I will not pay $5k over MSRP for an M2, or $60k for a lame limited edition, when that puts me in the territory of a Cayman S or even a 991, because I do know how a Cayman S feels on track, as my buddy has one and I've driven it. May lack a little bit of power, but otherwise a better car than the M2. And the power issue I'm sure can be fixed with some tuning.

I thought I read somewhere that the M4CS was going to be priced in the middle of the base and M4GTS. Can't seem to find it now. All these threads seem to run together.

I just meant that we should discuss this in the appropriate M2CS thread...one of the 5? currently going.

All this speculation...I might cool my heels and wait for some real info before getting into it further. We all have no idea what we're talking about. :

The only Porsche I lust after is the 997.2 GT3 RS. Since I cannot afford that. I am on the waiting list at 2 dealers for an M2 CS.

The new 911 is HUGE. Porsche has the same 'problem' as BMW. Their flagship car is just too big now. The new Porsche to get is now the GT4 RS.

I hope BMW does not disappoint with the CS.

....

It's 2.6 inches longer. Which is a change of 1.48%. It's also 3% wider and has a much longer wheelbase and thus more of a mid engine balance

No problem if it's not your cup of tea, but huge is a bit of hyperbole

Personally I've driven a gt4, 997 gt3 and some 991s models and like them all a lot. For me, the 991 is my favorite. It's an amazing car and is lighter than the 997 also.

They got the Performance Edition in stock?

Please go there and take some pictures of the interior, the seats specifically.

It's at port, it's being delivered to dealer soon. I told him to put me as 1st on the car. Once it's on the lot I'm going to look at it and I'll post photos. He wants 64k for it.

I was offered MSRP and was given the VIN number for the vehicle. I would not pay more than MSRP for the car. I'm from Poland as well.

I am new to BMW world. I was waiting for an M2. Dealer in Tampa Florida told they have an M2 PE coming in two month, two weeks ago. Reading this thread basically turned me off. I cannot justify the $2500, driving course or the exhaust system. But that a personal preference.

It was offered at MSRP.
