i love this stubby, hunkered down look.
Black or MG might be hotter, but the blue is cool...

There's something weird about how the back 1/3 of the car looks - especially from the front 3/4 view. I think it's something that has always bothered me with the 2 series generally speaking - but somehow the bigger wheels and flares don't help alleviate that...it just looks off somehow.

This is why a very pronounced spoiler seems a complete necessity on the 2 series. Something to elongate the rear will make it look better.

It's really strange - perhaps a trick of the eye? I always "felt" like my 235's rear wheels looked smaller than the front, even though they really weren't. Somehow on the M2, that actually is more pronounced, at least from the photos that I have seen.
I still think it is a really good looking car, but I wonder how much it would bother me if I were to buy one...it truly bothered me on the 235... Quote:
Good analogy...but to me, it's almost like the space from the front of the rear wheel fender well/edge of the door jam to the back edge of the bumper is too long - which is why the flares might not look as pronounced as they did on the 1M??? When I look at the 235 in your sig, for example, my eyes are not drawn to the nice face of the car or the front bumper - which are two things I really like about it - instead, they immediately move to that back side-ass area...and it just doesn't look right. Not really sure which view is more technically correct, but it's definitely off somehow.

^^ Euro regs specify a minimum mirror size larger than what is required in NA, it's likely the mirrors used here will be smaller.
I'd be happy to sacrifice a bit of the looks for better visibility and wish we could option the Euro mirrors here. |

I took a quick glance at the parts and didn't see a US-version mirror. But as it was a quick glance I could have easily missed it. |
