BMW M2 Tires and Wheel Protection Cost

Hi Guys,

Does anyone have wheels and tire protection on their M2? I just bought a BMW M2 2018 today and wanted to get an idea of what people have paid for the wheels and tire protection? I know it totally depends on where you live. I live in NJ. Any info would be appreciated.

I am getting a price quote for 3k for 48 months. I know its high but I hear that it is due to bad roads here in tri-state and too many claims they have jacked up the prices.

Thanks,

3k is 6 tires (at 500/each) or 3 brand new wheels (1000 from Sun motors) or 6 used wheels. I don't know anyone that's gone through that many wheels in 4 years

Touche, for my current 2015 335xi I didn't have any issues for 3 years and all of a sudden 2 bent wheels, curb rash on both and 2 blowouts tires all in 1 year.

Now I am concerned. If it's going to happen again and M2 has bigger rims and I have shitty roads.

Tire and wheel protection doesn’t cover curb rash. I would pass on the coverage.

On my 1er I didn't have it and there was a point where I wish I did. In 2 years I had two unrepairable punctures and one blow out. The blow out occurred in the middle of nowhere on a Sat night.

I don't know what is covered but if it picks up the tow, rental car, etc it would have been well worth having.

That experience was certainly enough for me to put a spare kit together for the M2 to use when I am traveling.

Yeah I feel like it would be worth it. Just wanted to know 3k is worth the money. Also I don’t know what is the going price

Yeah, I got suckered into that coverage...once. Never again. You have to be pretty unlucky to have enough go wrong that you end up "using up" the full amount. I didn't have one issue the entire coverage period. Complete waste of money for me. Could have bought a decent set of aftermarket wheels with that. Mind you our roads aren't too bad where I live and I don't drive the F87 in the winter.

You already have tow service either via bmw roadside or probably your insurance.

Also, most dealerships have loaners available.

As mentioned before, it typically doesn't cover curb rash.

3000 is way too much for any kind of tire and wheel package. If it was half that, I might consider it.

Is it BMW insurance or they are using 3rd party insurance? I hear BMW insurance is 2X more than a 3rd party.

I got a couple of other prices but they are from BMW dealership but they are using 3rd party company.

Dealership 1-
2k for 3years
2.5k for 5 years

Dealership 2-
$2650 for 5 years

Dealership 3-
3k for 4 years but from BMW coverage.

Still not sure it is worth the $$$ for me. I've been driving performance vehicles for past 25 years and never had tire or rim damage. So, may cancel for full refund (within 60 days)
