Were you able to actually move the car at all or did it just sit there and spin the tires? I backed my old 370Z out of the garage once with about a 1/2 inch of wet snow in the driveway, on PSS, and got stuck. Couldn't get it back up the roughly 2 degree slope. Ha! |

It got below 40 degrees here a few weeks ago, my contis felt like rocks the first few miles. Its been 7+ years since I've experienced below zero temps, I cant imagine how hard the summer tires would be.

I'm just glad you guys realized i was being sarcastic and didn't go all dad on me about how i need to get winter tires. (yes i know i do).
I tried doing donuts in a flat parking lot and couldn't get enough speed up to do anything. Couldn't even touch the gas pedal to get out of the parking lot. I had to let it idle itself out till i got back on the road. If it gets too bad I just plan on using Uber the day or two after until they get the roads clear. As for the cold I'd have not seen any major difference driving at normal city, highway speeds with the handling. I'm sure that would be different if i was trying to gun it around. Maybe a slightly rougher ride for the first few minutes till the tires warm up a little. The worst part is living in Pittsburgh you can't go 100 yards without driving up or down a hill. If its a little steep i have to feather the clutch a little or the tires just try and spin if I'm just starting out. I supposed I shouldn't tell those susceptible to heart attacks about the 8 times i had to start on the road and gun it to make it up my driveway when it snowed while i was away. I ended up leaving it on the road and shoveling/salting for 20 minutes before i could actually make it up. |

They are the worst street tires I have ever used when it comes to temperature degradation. Below 50F they lose traction unlike any performance tire I have ever used.

I picked up my car mid December. While I was waiting for my winter tires to arrive there was some snow. You really start to notice hills when you're sliding around trying to make it up a 3% incline.
But now I have these. They grip very well in normal driving in snow, slush and cold wet. But when the streets are covered in snow it's still easy enough to kick out the tail with a throttle blip. Plus htey are required here in Germany by law, and if you don't have them in the snow and get in a crash insurance won't pay. So winter tires it is.
