First Time Tracking M2 - Hoosier R7's vs. Federal RS-RR

So this year will be my first time tracking the M2. I tracked other cars, but that was around 15 years ago, and never on slicks.

I realize that the Hoosiers are not the most beginner friendly.

That being said, the wheels I bought came with a set of lightly used (2 track days) Hoosier R7s. I was planning on running Federal RS-RR's on there instead, as they seem to be extremely affordable and relatively durable for track duty. But I was curious if it would be worth while just to burn out the Hoosiers first, rather than swapping them out and potentially selling them. (I could probably sell them used for the price of a brand new set of RS-RRs.)

Anyone have any opinions here? Am I risking a lot running slicks my first go in the M2?

EDIT: For reference, The Hoosiers are 275/35r18 on a set of Apex EC-7's 18x10 wheels. I planned on getting the same size tires for the RS-RRs.

If you had been on track more recently, I’d say go with the R7’s. Instead, I say burn up a set of the RR’s or other tires first, then go R7.

Plus, R7 warm up isn’t as sketchy if you wait until summer, and you’ll know the car better by then.

First track events look like around April, so it wont be "hot" by then. Also not sure if I'll even do enough events to wear through a set of track tires before the end of the season TBH.

I’d guess you’d get 8-days out of the RR’s and 3-4 out of the R7’s, FWIW.
