M2 being Stolen?

I was stopped late last night by Cheshire Police.

A stop check to check the vehicle wasn't stolen.

Officer advised me that a Black M2 has been stolen from the Appleton area of Warrington and a White M2 had the bonnet and steering wheel taken while the car was on the drive one night in Stockton Heath, Warrington. The little bastards used a radar scanner?? To scan the signal from the key inside the house and open the car.

Advised to keep keys well away from any doors windows in a metal box.

Anyone else know of them being stolen?

Unfortunately, comfort access makes it easy, there have been a few cars stolen by scanning the key signal, it's not unique to BMW's. I suppose it's better than having the house broken into and threatened for your keys, but it's still sickening.

I use faraday pouches for my keys, they're cheap on Amazon/eBay etc and seem to do the trick. With my key in the pouch, I cannot open my car whilst standing right next to it.

Did the police say how much nicer your interior would look with a gorgeous alcantara dash piece Sean?

Two scroats tried to break in my house about 6 months back. Best guess they were after my keys. They weren’t very quiet when kicking the back door in and scarpered when I started turning the lights on.

Upgraded the alarm, installed CCTV and added more security lights since.

Only problem with the m2 is scumbags want to take it :/

This is a great way to stop them from stealing cars or vans
With them wanting the keys

We installed the Autowatch Ghost Immobiliser into this brand new M2 Comp
For its new owner

Off topic comment! Is that front number plate holder the standard size or does anyone know where you can get one similar?

I have a short plate that I will be putting on my M2C, thought I’d be stuck with the large plate holder.

Me too I'll be fitting a 16" 6 digit plate as opposed to 20.5" plate standard.

Make sure dealer doesn't screw a standard plate on making screw holes too far apart to cover with short plate (as has happened with my last 3 new cars!!!)

Is it the japanese size holder? Realoem isn't clear.

It's not the ECE euro one though for sure.

Beautiful ride.... Do you offer installations in Surrey? I have an M2C on order (due in 2 weeks) and feel like this is a no-brainer now that the app is available too.

Kenny,

So how do you use the key and pouch if you can't open your car if you're right next to it - do you take the key out of the pouch each time you go to open the car? Surely at that point the thieves can scan the signal from the key?

It would be good to get some clarity on this.

Cheers,

Karl

Mark,

How much does it cost to have this fitted on an M2 Competition?

Cheers,
