I was just thinking, and this is funny to me, pokemon cards and hot wheels and other things are considered "rare and collectible" when they have factory defects. Too bad that sentiment doesn't transfer over to cars...

Some times it does transfer to cars, like this 1964 Chevrolet Corvair Monza Spyder Turbo valued at $30K, however, I doubt Ralph Nader has one!

The 500hp M4 GTS uses the same engine with no reinforcement on the crank hub...
Haven't seen those owners lining up to have their crank hub replace by warranty yet All mass production items have product defects |

Still no report of what the issue was/is with the engine. Called BMW NA and they basically dismissed my concern about a new engine lowering the value of the car... So when I said they should buy it back and get me a new one it was not really entertained. She tried to make it seem that I was lucky to have an engine available to put in and that the dealer gave me a free loaner. Smh
Great first BMW experience... |

I was told today it looked like a rod bearing went out. They found oil shavings in the oil...

Yes I contacted NA. They do not help/care. Dealerships do not really care either. The car is a total lemon, and I get it. I wouldnt trust a S55 motor without the crankhub fix. Valve met piston in this case. Idk if you guys have dealt with BMW warranty but they give the most broad answers so I dont really have much more detail than that.
Issues the car had: Trunk clearcoat was faulty ($1000+ fix) Blown turbo seal (warranty) Some bushing was bad/squeaking terribly (warranty) Blown motor (warranty - after fighting them) Rear taillight flashing it has a malfunction every 30 seconds (warranty) One of the keys would not retain a profile (warranty) Oh I forgot the DCT is clunky really bad when going into reverse and I believe it's already slipping 2nd gear if that's even possible... that's what I remember at least I'm sure I'm missing some stuff. I dropped off the forums because of my displeasure with the car. It's been nothing but problems |

Also it just flashed drivetrain malfunction so killed the car and I guess it was too late. The way it happened (cruising at like 45 mph if I remember correctly?) Was so odd. I had no assumption it was blown at first lol

Will I keep the car? Most likely not. This is most likely my last BMW I will ever own for how I have been treated. From stereotyping at the dealership to the lack of caring that my brand new car has been a total lemon, it's been piss poor service. It is what it is. I'm thinking a Hellcat daily and selling my racecar for a mk4 supra and start from scratch. Or a rx7 fd ls/lq swap. We will see. The future is always bright |

nah you're good. I see you're from florida and from what I've heard online florida dealers are usually absolute scum and take advantage of everyone. I'd be seeking an attorney if i was in your shoes but i get that not everyone wants to deal with that
