LOL.
According to BMW, comparing DCT to DCT or 6MT to 6MT, the M4 still maintains a 0.2 second advantage from 0-60mph or 0-100km/h over the M2.

Based on those BMW figures, a DCT M2 will match a 6MT M4, but that is not apples-to-apples.

Further, 0-60mph or 0-100km/h are a bit irrelevant since those metrics are highly traction dependent. Above 60mph/100km/h, with its broader and higher power plateau, the M4 will likely walk away from the M2.

Yes, which emits intake/engine noise into the cabin. Not exhaust noise

Hopefully BMW M got aware of the 'Active Sound Design' criticism raging within the enthusiasts community the past couple of years.

The 1M did not feature the ASD gimmick. And ask the owners: ASD ain't missed at all.

Now check a couple of excerpts from the recent CAR+ Magazine article with BMW M (http://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1206609):
Contextually, the 1M is most important. [...] The M2 is more of the same, just with uncapped numbers and extra polish that we're assured won't spoil the magic. [...] "We ripped out all the sound deadening!" laughs Isenberg. "So you hear more and it removes a lot of weight."

Question time with BMW M Boss Frank van Meel:

Q: What is your favourite M car from the past ?
A: The 1-series M. That car definitely needs ESC !

Q: How will M Division evolve under your leadership ?
A: We will look to traction systems and tyre technology to help put more power down. We will become more aggressive about sound, that's very important. The little backfire you hear on the M4 GTS... an engineer might say that's perhaps a mix up with the ignition spark, but it creates emotion.
Here's to hoping that the M2 does not feature ASD.

Rev matching isn't controlled by the gearbox, it's the engine management that does this. So same gearbox doesn't mean it has rev matching.

My guess is that the M2 also has it though.

I know you do, but my reply was to the guy who thought it was exhaust noise... I knew he was referring to ASD.

Not sure how many times ASD has been discussed on the Fxx M boards and still a lot of people think it's exhaust noise the ASD is transmitting...
