Did BMW overstate the CS weight?
Occasionally I go back to the Harry's Garage CS review and noticed today the weight discussion around the 5:10 mark:
According to this, the car is about 50-80kg lighter without the ceramics. (The car as weighed in the review was 130kg lighter that the published weight!) If that's the case - what are the reasons for overstating the weight? |

The BMW weight includes a '150lb driver'
it's just the way it's done, probably similar for most European manufacturers but I don't know for sure… |

And how does it explain the M2C vs CS weight from motortrend? "The M2 CS may be 96 pounds lighter than the last M2 Competition we tested, but it's still 390 pounds heavier than the 718 Cayman GT4 we weighed." That's more than ceramics. https://www.motortrend.com/reviews/2...t-test-review/ |

I'm not sure but the carbon ceramics are 50 lbs lighter and the carbon bits probably amount to a saving of ~30 lbs, so 80 lbs plus driver weight of 150 = 230 lbs, maybe the gas tank accounts for a few lbs.
