It is perfectly clear to me now that the M2/M2 Comp was intended to be a way to sell leftover N55 engines and M3/M4 parts respectively in the guise of an "enthusiast" model.

If the rumor of 500 units in the states is true it'll easily be $100k. With limited production BMW can set any price and it will sell. Maybe not to a forum member, but there's lots of people who don't join forums and have deep pockets. Enthusiasts can't always win on cars like these sadly.

I want one!

This may be the last good BMW car to buy. Everything new after this I'm just not feeling it at all. I really hope things change though I've been a BMW fan for so long it would suck to jump ship.

I truly believe every one of these will sell for six figures unless you REALLY know someone to help you pay MSRP. I just saw some rich kid put 18000$ McLaren senna seats in his M2C. If its exclusive it really doesnt matter what it should cost. I sell 180k G wagons for 80k over sticker because wealthy people are having a hard time getting them-> Supply and demand. This car will be a trophy "drivers car" for rich people and collectors only. Dont hold your breathe thinking they will have a hard time selling these. I personally love that it's so limited. It's made the decision to buy the M2C seem like an absolute no brainer.

However, going in the other direction, it really makes the M2C a fantastic buy and may drive sales on that spectrum. With discounts, a mid to high $50s M2C with maybe 80-90% of the CS....not too shabby in my option.
I love the way the car looks, but I don't see anything that would make an educated/informed buyer want one. *If* BMW prices this under $100,000($85,000) then I could see the potential for it. I just don't think that's going to happen. I really really think we'll see M3 CS discounts on these next year because they're just not moving.
I agree with you. The only special feature is the size. The weight is still most likely high meaning 3500+ lbs.

If I am spending $80k it won't be on super awesome 2 series because at that budget I am in 911 land and can even get a killer deal on m3/4 cs.

If this car was 3300 lbs then it would be much more interesting. I still don't understand why is it so damn heavy.

Pretty much as expected, which is a good thing. Random thoughts:
  • Not much in it for a DD over the M2C, but the CS should shine at the track.
  • The interior is nice. I love the look of the CS center console but for a DD the lack of the armrest/cubby is not ideal. Again, for the track, who cares?
  • If only 2200 are produced worldwide everything will be academic except for those with deep pockets. There were 6309 1Ms produced worldwide and just 740 were exported to NA...and markups still occurred.
  • I suspect this will be priced at approximately $80K ($5K variance on either side) + dealer mark up.
  • I'm glad BMW built this car.
  • I'm even happier that it is being offered with a MT (hell, if I had space and unlimited resources, I'd buy a MT CS just to support M's decision to offer a transmission choice).
  • I"m glad I have my M2C.

Hope you're right but just think otherwise based on the 500 units for the US.

kinda my thoughts as well. Personally even at 80k I think it's over priced compared to a 60k M2C but that's just me. The CS badge and the limited quantity paired with ADM's will probably make this a very expensive M car.

Very true on your no-brainer M2C comment. Makes it a fantastic value at its price point. Especially if the M2CS is high 90s and over 100K

Anyone notice that the seat is finally Merino leather and not Dakota leather? Not that it matters in the long run but wanted to point out that detail

I'm getting my in MT.

Some thoughts on your random thoughts.

I really do think that BMW knows their market with this thing. In Canada I see this starting sub 100k, maybe 99 plus destination. Dealers really aren't allowed to ADM here. Even if they do, my dealer wouldn't pull that crap on me since I buy too many cars from them.

Center armrest is something you get used to pretty quickly actually. Thankfully this doesn't have the stupid GTS door cards like the M4CS does so you still have the door pockets in the regular doors.

Will be a helluva machine. Can't wait to get behind the wheel.

Yes, that was honestly a huge sell for me and why I have been waiting for this for so long.

The Dakota seats are honestly an abomination for a >$60K car. It would be a dream to have them in the M2C

Good looking. Wonder if they re-done the rears to match. I also see there are no lane departure warning and front collision warning button under the headlight controls.

I don't see how these are into the $90k realm (without dealer markups).
