Dinan Intake

For those running the Dinan CAI, how do you like it? Any sound diff from stock? Better throttle response?

I likey! You get a nice induction air whooshing sound when on it. Otherwise pretty similar sound to stock. No weird eventuri type air dump echo thing when off throttle. People say there is no added hp with intakes but my butt Dino says differently and I dont think it’s in my head. Throttle response didn’t jump out at me. Seemed about equal although I am tuned so response is sharper than stock to begin with.

I had one on my m135i - shame you have to cut LHS corner brace to make them fit on the m2 though

Here's a YT clip of my car playing in the snow - you can hear the intake

I thought about cutting and in the end not sure it's a big deal. Can always buy a new brace for cheap, no?

That brace is pretty puney to start with not sure how much it does (I did the aluminum brace retrofit which made a huge difference). I just left the brace off for the time being. Will get around to cutting it with a Dremel when I have some free time. I do not think it is a big deal either. The added befits of the bigger volume Dinan box/filter/piping makes up for any loss of lateral/longitudinal stability from snipping the brace.

The other thing I realized is you can buy a new OEM brace for $30 so all the drama around cutting seems unwarranted given that it's so cheap and easy to replace. NBD

I have it and like it a lot. I initially installed it with the provided plate over the opening in the lower part of the air box( for cars with MPPK). After a little reading and research, I removed the plate and put the stock air box back to the way it was. I can now hear the intake noise and the slightly peppier throttle response.

Agreed, nice increase intake sounds when on full throttle, slight increase in power (butt dyno) and it looks great. I was concerned about cutting of braces both with the CAI and the Dinan intercooler but as the photo below shows the front end remains quite stiff (with my Ohlins set at 3 clicks). In the photo below my front tire is in the air as I hit turn 5 at Thunderhill....saweeeet!!!!

Just installed. The corner brace is pretty easy to do. Love the sound it makes!

I did mine as well and it was super easy. A little bit of rough idle on cold start (talked to Dinan and they said that's normal), but otherwise seems fine. I'm not sure I notice much of a difference.
