I must say, like many others, I've felt this pain. Dealership information was that the LCI come with "the new lights" due to my own lack of due diligence, coupled with uncertainty on dealership side, my 2018 car was without the adaptive lights. I was, initially, gutted. I had my heart set on that hexagonal look.
Over the last few weeks, I've grown to accept this unplanned deviation, and grown fonder of the LCI LED rounder look. Based on my research so far, it seems ALOT of people have "accidentally'" fell into this situation...

I happy I got the adaptive lights but I’m not convinced they look better than the halo lights. They are less common than the signature BMW halos which is probably the best thing they have going for them.
