I just called the BMW Genius line and spoke w/a Genius that must be tired of receiving calls from forum educated users ?

I have a week 32 build and he confirmed...

1. Week 32 is August 1 (different than what another forum member was shown in the BMW system but agrees with the Apple and Outlook calendars.

2. That once in order status 112 (not 150) the order is not modifiable

3. That I cannot find track my car using bmwusa.com My BMW until in order status 112 at which point the VIN is assigned. Then why offer entering a production number?

4. That Apple CarPlay is not a selectable option and wouldn't be until August or earliest mid-July

At first he said 09/16 but when I mentioned the order guide he agreed 08/16.

What does that build sheet mean Apple CarPlay launch 09/16?

5. That my order would change to 112 very shortly

6. Kept offering to cancel my order

Is it really this hard to get correct information!!

masou, it was definitely a selectable package last week but I skipped it because I prefer Android.

I was under the impression (from other posts) that your order is modifiable up until 150.

In a way I hope you are right because it will put me out of my misery...I'm constantly second guessing my choices (colour, options)

iDrive 5.0 comes with MY2017 M2's, regardless of build date. The speculation about is Carplay option retrofit for July builds in USA and July and Aug builds in Canada.

According to BMW, Carplay depends on iDrive 5.0 to work.

The iDrive 5.0 Screencast/Mirrorink is a new built in feature (under Multimedia) rather than a BMW app.

If the app developer supports CarPlay you can see and use it on the car's screen.

Spoke with a different BMW Genius today. It's no wonder the forums have conflicting information. FWIW

1. When I asked about how to determine the build week the BMW Genius said "most of them" find that using the weeks in Outlook are usually accurate unless the order is accelerated or delayed. I asked if there was a BMW system that shows the week and he said no. All he could see was that my order said, 2016 08 32 (YYYYMMWW)

2. The VIN is assigned once the car is in production, i.e. order status 150 not 112

3. The car is still modifiable until the order status is 150 but "harder for the CA to change". To me sounded like it involved phone calls and approvals.

4. The build week is the week the car build "starts" not ends.

Fun facts...based on this BMW Genius' experience...

1. Start of build to end of build ~ 1 1/2 weeks to 2 weeks, recently M cars are taking ~3 weeks (should not apply to M2 b/c of lack of variability) and ~4 weeks for orders with individual options

2. EOP to port ~1-2 days after that time is dependent on shipping company.

An iDrive change that happened recently was wifi access. Now you can connect your phone to iDrive without using USB or bluetooth. wifi direct?

Ahh, so you provide your own SIM card for wifi. I'm in the US. I wonder if this would be like adding a tablet to my AT&T plan for $10 per month.

Yup definitely iDrive 5.0 in that video. Also for those who asked earlier about the wifi it will be integrated in iDrive 5.0 and it won't be a separate device like on BMW website under accessories. You get 3 months free and then after you will get plan options on the screen.

I would love to see what's under the armrest now since there is the wireless charging.
