My wife and I have been to most of the dealers in the greater L.A. area, even though we live in Northern California. I have to agree that the NorCal dealers leave much to be desired, but Steve Thomas in the Camarillo area was the only dealer who flat out ignored us when we stopped in one evening. The sales people were chatting among themselves while we were looking at M6's, and there were no other customers in the showroom. So we simply walked out and bought our M6GC elsewhere. No surprise they did not make the list. Eff 'em. Their loss.

As for BMW Irvine, +1 to what others have said.

Spoken like someone under 24. Do you know the reason for this? Some dealerships insurance companies will not allow it. I worked at a place like this. Not the dealerships fault. Blame the lawyers and insurance companies instead or the drivers under 24 who have proven to have more accidents.

Can't agree more with this statement. Despite a dealership closer to Fort Hood, I was recommended to BMW of Austin for my first purchase. The best car buying experience I've had so far.

Picked up my second BMW in Virginia, all I gotta say is I wish I was still able to purchase and service my cars at BMW of Austin.

Just so you guys know, COE isn't just based on sales. It's also based on purchasing parts from bmw, CSI, and a bunch of other categories. Sales only constitutes about 20% of the total consideration. I'm sorry some of you got ripped off by sales departments but I don't feel it's fair to judge the whole dealer by your sales experience.

You may be right but from the average consumer's perspective, the only thing we judge a dealership on is the sales and service experiences....occasionally parts as well.

Some of the comments here are hilarious...there are like 13 different categories that a dealership has to hit to make the "Center of Excellence". It is not simply based on how good of a deal you got or how you were treated. Sales, service and parts also have to meet the goals. Most of the larger dealerships are not listed.

Wonder what the specific criteria is for getting this designation.

Then get better insurance. I am 27 and own my own IT company. But I was under 24 when I lived in the area. However, they should market to me because I am not rare in that area. Stevens creek claims to be the best dealership in the affluent South Bay where you have young and successful people.

Also, why don't they check the stats for how accident prone drivers under 24 who drive BMW's. I'm sure it's not that different than a 44 year old.

Sorry old-timers, the luxury market is fighting to sell the 3 series and c classes to make those large quarterly numbers. Who do you think buys all those cars? The younger age group.

If a dealership 6 miles away can give me a loaner when you are 21 then I am sure Stevens creek can take out a new insurance policy.

They did. You think insurance comes up with risks assessment by making it up?

There are these people known as actuaries...they've got decades of data and statistical analysis on the risk assessments for this sorta thing.

If someone under 24 doesn't like it? They can just buy from a dealership that will give them a loaner. I understand some insurance companies and/or dealerships don't want to take a seemingly unnecessary risk but there's plenty who won't see an issue with it. I had no problems getting loaners at 22 and upward, well I did, but age wasn't a factor, it was more so the Infiniti dealer at the time rarely had any loaners.

This is very common in various industries.

Canada to the US is just a drop in the bucket financially and even demographically...the population and market is too small for them to care.

I know a lot of companies where "North America" only includes the USA.....quite pathetic and stupid IMHO

I haven't taken it back in spite of how badly it annoys me because they are that big of a PITA to deal with. Thank GOD we're getting another one sometime soon.

I disagree, they used to be the absolute best, but are falling down a bit.
I have done biz with BMW SA since 2004 have owned 4 cars bought from there 3 new 1 used. The service department up to about 2012 to me was the worst thing I have ever experienced- got the horror stories to prove it. Albert is my service adviser last two years and has really done me, my wife and my brother a solid job. However, I will never ever buy another vehicle from them. My wife is getting a M235- I will go out of state if I have to since I keep hearing horror stories about the Houston dealerships. Maybe I should go to the Rio Grande Valley if they have a dealership? I know they have an Audi one that stocks R8's! But they have to treat people right cuz they could be in the Cartel and....

And San Antonio is getting another BMW Dealer?

I need to go find this Albert guy. For Houston, go try Clear Lake BMW. I didn't buy my current car from them, but shopped there when I was looking. They were good to me, just decided I couldn't do without M Sport package.

How did Pacific BMW make the list? they are the worst dealership I've ever dealt with. Horrible service department, I now drive 30 minutes to Van Nuys to take my car to service.

Pacific was the dealership that took the 1M on a joyride and sold it to a customer without informing him.

Irvine BMW makes the list because they sell cars with 60k markups and parts at 900 percent over MSRP.

Even when the same car is for sale at a LA area dealer for MSRP or under.
