I would think she will go with M2 since it had 4 seats vs 2 in Cayman.

Positive news. I checked out the M4 in the showroom and not pleased at all. The boy racer seats are uncomfortable junk and the Cadillac style trunk is so big you could sleep in it. I don't see anyone buying an M4 knowing whats coming in the M2. Just hope the seats are fixed for M2.

In regards to the M235, Get rid of the active suspension, sun roof delete and 6sp stick pricing, add m-diff as standard factory option and you have a poor mans M2. I would buy this for excellent value back to $40k instead of 50k with m-diff. Is the M2 worth 50k I would say yes but I priced it at 56k. So I think the fat M4 and poor M235 sales are helping us out quite nicely.

The BMW Engineer who designed the seats should be fired and who ever came up with M235 pricing scam too!

Especially since the rumored high-output I4 was cut from the M2. Would be cool if BMW found a place in the line-up to put this engine.
If they move the 2 to RWD... Don't give up hope yet

@Scott26 has said recently, that the board still has not decided IF the UKL will be only FWD. There is a chance that some models will keep RWD since this platform can accommodate AWD option.

IMO its just a matter of time till they do...

I'd like it myself. That aside, lets take a look at the market in this space, the competitive set and also who they just hired to run M....

Spring 2016 is so far away

I'm so tempted to start modifying the E36, but having a hard time justifying it if I'm going to get rid of it for an M2 when it comes out. First world problems I know, but still....

Well, I would take them both

Currently driving the 1M and a Cayman GTS, well I suppose the 1M could be turned in for a M2 when the time comes

Just great, great driving machines, both of them.......

I'm on the same boat sir.

Will Individual be available on the M2? I heard early speculation that it won't. Has anything changed from this info??

Well you have a sweet M4 coming! Were you going to replace it with the M2 or add?

I guess I can't really complain either because I still got a pair of M3's to play with. Going to do a few things to the E92 because I know for sure that'll be around in 2 years. But the E36, who knows.

Thank sir! No the M4 (that's my uber BMW) stays and the M2 would be an add on My E36 however, not so sure what to do with it if the M2 will be my new track beast.

Don't sell the E92! I should have kept mine.

People I have talked to reckon Autobild are somewhat a little opportunistic.

No in the long term future I do not see the M2 , M3 or M4 use xDrive because with that drivetrain you add weight , extra weight.
And with (at the past point) with the M3 and M4 getting to a suitable target weight I do not think they will add the extra weight to that car.

The M5 and M6 will have the option of both RWD and xDrive but with M-DCT only.

Opportunistic as in they seized an opportunity to leak secret information, or did you mean optimistic, as in this number is probably high?

Hpde instructors are spoiled brats. BMW has it's game strong.

Right, but I do not believe this will come to pass. If BMW wanted a small RWD car, they would simply keep the F2x chassis alive and update it for another generation. I firmly believe the next generation UKL M2 will be an AWD car with a transversely mounted 350-400hp I4. I'd even place a wager on that today - eight or so years before the car will exist.

True. Sufficient info hints that the 4-banger idea was considered for the M2, but shelved in the end (Winter 2013-2014). In January 2014 @Scott26 still spoke about a 4-cyl for the M2, almost certainly because at that time the M Division had not decided yet or told to opt for a 6-cyl:
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showp...1&postcount=79

Last Spring Porsche boss Matthias Müller announced in an interview with Auto Motor und Sport that Porsche will conceive 4-bangers with up to 395hp for the next gen Boxster and Cayman:

personally i wouldn't mind that.

though, obviously there will be at least a 2016 m235i if the M2 doesnt even begin US production until march 2016.

I personally am not sure the m2 would be for me, as i'm guessing the suspension would be pretty harsh for most commuting. if bmw was going to offer a 235i without all the extra doodads, and you could still option it back up, that seems like a good option. if anything it'd be nice if they jstu did that today, but i'm guessing they just dont want to offer that many combinations and have to track all those options
I've driven the M235i, and if they adopt the same M-adaptive suspension found in the M3/4, I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how forgiving this option makes the ride quality and adjustability. This coming from someone who's driven about 5,000 miles already in my M3, in Michigan, where our roads are hardly what I would call, pleasant. Receiving praise from my pregnant (at the time), wife and extremely sensitive father in law.
lol .. The first time I read it, I read it as "all the time".. Reading it again I figured that you wrote "at the time".
Congratulations btw!!
