Most cost effective way of ordering aftermarket parts

Wasn't sure where to post this, but it is concerning pricing. Just for ordering aftermarket parts.

Whether its ordering from ind, x-ph, direct from manufacture, or from my local distributor/installer (EAS) I've seen people ask for PM's to be sent to them regarding pricing or ordering. 99% of the time this pricing is readily available on the manufacture or distributors website. So is the purpose of this to receive discounts? Cheaper shipping? Is it just faster and easier? I feel like I'm missing something...

black friday deals are best in my opinion for car parts. I got some pretty good deals on x-ph black friday deals and they have good customer service.

when pm'ing the vendors usually they offer much lower prices than what's listed on directly on the website. It's a pain and an archaic methodology for business but it is what it is with forum vendors.
