Higher performance clutches usually require a higher rpm for initial take off. I suspect this could be the situation that we have. |

clutch chatter is normal on all cars. The m2 especially because it has reduced sound deadening around the transmission tunnel.
Unless you're getting weird creeps I would not worry about it. FFS guys you're driving a modern day BMW that's actually a drivers car. The gear box on the M2/M3/M4 has a dual plate design that is slightly lighter sprung. The Flywheel is also a dual mass design so naturally it will chatter. A brand new M3/M4 i test drove will chatter if you let the clutch out and load the engine letting the revs drop, totally normal.

Just to add to this, there is some credibility to the users complaining about this.
I actually had pretty bad clutch chatter on my M2 with 20k miles, my local dealer ended up replacing the clutch and flywheel under warranty after the shop foreman took my car for a spin with me. He agreed the clutch chatter was completely unwarranted for a car with only 20k miles and actually said he replaced a clutch on another M2 with a similar issue. My car is a 2016 early model, is bone stock and not what I would call "abused". I did one track day ~8k miles and 1 AutoX event around the same time with the car. Clutch chatter started to get bad around 15-17k. Before any armchair race car drivers spout any learn to drive comments. I'm a pretty competent driver, I've done dozens of track days in a 5MT WRX I used to own prior to getting into sport bikes, on sportbikes i've done more track days than I can count at every track in california besides Seca and as I said, aside from the one track day in the M2 just to get a feel for the car (my 600rr is my track toy) the car is just a regular commuter. I think the biggest factor may be my commute, Its an 10 mile commute in pretty dense traffic in Los Angeles. Anyway, just a heads up to others if you have a commute in a high traffic area and experience clutch chatter. Go see your dealer before the warranty is up. PS. South Bay BMW in Torrance is the dealership that took care of me. I'd recommend them to anyone. Good folks. |

Does anyone by chance have a video of what it sounds like? I'm pretty sure what I'm hearing from my car is exactly this (clutch chatter). Asked a friend (very mechanically inclined) and my service rep and they both said it was clutch chatter/normal.
