Question M2 Competition or M4 Competition?

Hi guys, I’m in front of a very tough choice and I need some suggestions.

I’m currently a very happy owner of a ‘17 M2 DCT in BSM, but for some reason I have to sell it in the next two months.
My local bmw dealer (Italy) offered me a very very good price for buying it back, so I’m about to swap it for another M car.

At the moment they offered me a fully load m4 Competition brand new with approx 26% discount, ready for delivery !!! On the other hand I’m considering buying the new M2 Competition as I loved so much driving mine. With the M2 completion I can have one of the first allocations for September as well a little discount (approx 7-9%).

So I need help, even in term of future value... is the deal on the M4 is really as good as it looks or it’s better to get a totally brand new model, as the M2 Competition, which will last at least 4 years?

Tough problem!
I’m not familiar with the M4C; but did order the M2C. I just love the proportions of the M2.
I think the M4 is not a winner in any way, and will be forgotten once the next gen comes out.

The M2 is the spiritual successor to the 2002 and the original M3. And there’s a good chance the M2C will be rare, since it’s only being made for 1-2 years.

Do you want a boat or a reasonably sized coupe?

According to the specs it's as heavy as an m4.

I locked in an m2c spot today but may just get an m3.

They may be the same weight but they don't feel the same at all. Go see for yourself and don't compare expensive car purchases on paper.

I think I could have fun in either car but the only way i'd go for an m4c over the m2c at this point would be if I could have it optioned exactly how I wanted and in an individual color.

M2C has been out for a while so I am resurrecting this thread so hopefully people who have owned both M2C and M4C can chime in. I am really having a hard time making a decision between M2/M4 competition. I know it is mostly subjective and that's why I am here, to hear your subjective opinion. It is going to be DD.

I own an M2C and love it. I do think the M4C has better proportions overall and a better interior. However, for me the size was too big so it was a nonstarter for what I was looking for. I also hate the 666 wheels more than I do the 788 ones.

They are really very different cars with the same engines capable of the same performance.

Garage List
It depends on looks/size. M2 turns in a more aggressive manner since it's smaller, but M4 has better interior, heads up display & more room in the interior. I'd imagine the smaller car also provides a sportier vibe

I was on the fence for a little over 8 months flip flopping between the M2C and M4C.

For me, the option for full leather/better interior ultimately won me over + it was difficult to stomach paying MSRP.

Now my biggest issue is finding a dealer that would do invoice or close to for a MY20 M4C. (I think I need to stay away from the M4 pricing/lease thread because they conditioned me into thinking 1k under invoice is the new norm)

Probably not going to happen as a would be first-time BMW owner with no connections. Have to pay to play I guess...
