No color change could take away how ugly the front is. But yes it does look better in this color. Kind of like dressing a pig in a suit. The pig looks better in a suit but its still a pig.

Found out that Cessna left BMW a voicemail today. Apparently they want their steering wheel back.

The 3.0 CSL homage car lost a design award to this beauty.

Really BMW? Now your into the make things that look like race cars but that actually aren't...

Time for me to go cry in a corner. Bmw was supposed to be for enthusiasts. Not rice.
Yea, my thoughts exactly.

Not a fan here. I can deal with everything but the front, I simply can't handle that
Much better

[QUOTE=SCOTT26;17976131]Under the CSLs bonnet lies the next interpretation of Power eDrive.
So far we have shown you "Das Thing" the name given to the Power eDrive 5er Gran Turismo which generates via six cylinder and electric motor to produce 670 PS.
But in official press release we advise of three specific power outputs of this new performance drivetrain being developed at BMW.
The power under the CSL generates 560 PS. But this one is particularly special it is further tweaked by the M Division to suit the character of a BMW M car.

And what I am hearing it seems that there is a motion to use the CSL badge for more progressive and innovative M models and to make CSL models the test bed for exclusive performance and progressive innovation and that includes eDrive assisted drivetrains.

Progress. Love the yellow. Should have been offered in the M3/M4. Great initiative with e-drive but everyone is now doing this as future development so bring it quick.

Welcome back to the game BMW M. The progress and focus seems back but the competition has moved forward in leaps and bounds. BMW needs to build something truly stunning in this sporty segment to get people's attention away from the likes of the AMG GT and restore the shine on its core M range.

Now we are talking. Guarantee we would not be having this color debate if BMW wouldn't have designed such an extreme front end. KISS keep it simple stupid. And thats what Bentley has done here.

Thx for sharing

I really liked the concept, I don't know why it was so harshly received.

In my opinion, judging from the CSL concept, BMW was testing the waters and it plans to return to the shark nose look in their 3 series (maybe other models too). Their "BMW Lusso Gran Coupe" concept from a few years ago will probably serve as a base for future designs. There is quite a bit of resemblance in the front between the Lusso and the CSL concepts.

But this Dayglow Yellow is actually called Golf Yellow and not only was it available on the E9 CS/CSi/CSL but countless other classic BMWs such as the E21,E12 5er and the classic 2002. So it is not something pulled out of a hat but a classic interpretation for reinvention of a classic car.

Maybe so, but still godawful.

I think it looks interesting with the classic batmobile livery.

And, to whoever posted the picture of the Bentley EXP10speed6, obviously it would win. It looks like a modern version of the old AM DB9, which I think would still reign supreme today in the looks department.

Obviously I can't refute the design award, but I think it's interesting that you chose to post a photo of the rear. I'm betting many here would have the same reaction to the front that they have the 3.0 CSL Hommage:

color

the press car's yellow/green paintwork was rubbish; they should've gone with the original motorsport livery... the 3.0 looks good nevertheless...

Agreed! Look at the mug!?! And the rear is very derivative. Aston Martin wants its rear design back.

You know I am beginning to like the CSL Hommage car a lot more now...

Maybe the Aston won the design award bc it was less ugly than the csl homage car.

I don't put too much credit into design awards because they subjective by very nature. Since the beginning of this debate I have been clear that the face of this car and aerodynamic kit are overdone. The basic shape, concept and dimensions are spot on though.

If we want BMW to return to designing desirable cars, we must be a bit more open minded and see negative and the positive aspects of what is presented.

In the end this is a concept car not the finished product and there is a great probability that should it make production, the design will lose a vast majority pf the OTT features to be a viable sales reality.

I say BMW build it and show us that you can still make an Ultimate Driving Machine.

They're only important when BMW wins, like all those dubious awards that make Bimmerpost front page when BMW wins.
