Top Speed

There is a discussion in the M2C forum on top speed.

I thought we should see who has seen their top speed.

I hit 145 mph at my last track day down the straight at Pacific Raceway. The M2 was still pulling and probably could have gone faster if the straight away was longer.

David L, an instructor, hit the same speed in his 2017 M2.

Both of our M2s are stock.

What have others seen?

I hit 150 on the highway yesterday😂 I'm big turbo and tuned though

Haven't been to the track yet, hit somewhere in the 110-120 range on the highway once or twice. Lost license territory so top speed is not something I'm frequently trying to achieve.

Ask someone who drives in Germany on the sections of the Autobahn that are still Unlimited - they can probably tell you if the limiter is set at 155mph or not.

I hit 250 kph (155 mph) on the autobahn in a rented M2 Comp in June 2019, but I didn't try to push any further than that, so not sure if I was actually up against the expected 250 kph limiter (or whether the car had the 270 kph raised limiter).

I've only hit 120 mph in my own M2 back here in the states (didn't finish break-in period during my 2017 ED trip).

Mine is snowed in in the driveway. Hopefully the snow will melt soon but I may end up driving my wife's Mazda CX-5 awd iwith Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires instead.

Mine is snowed in in the driveway. Hopefully the snow will melt soon but I may end up driving my wife's Mazda CX-5 awd iwith Michelin CrossClimate 2 tires instead.

I did a vmax run during my ED on the autobahn. I was able to get my US-spec LCI up to 267 kph indicated (~167 mph indicated, and 164 mph GPS per my dash cam). I will post a video later.

There are a couple rural highway spots I know where you could do a max speed run, no traffic, smooth straight road with high visibility on all sides. But of course it would be highly illegal so I never would do that. But "hypothetically" around 150 a few times may have been in the cards.

Never have felt a limiter though.

Back in 2019, I hit 181 mph (~291 kph) with OG LCI (US-Spec) DCT BM3 STG 2 on the Autobahn between Mannheim and Frankfurt. She felt like she still had a little bit left to give but not much. I never V-Maxed when the car was stock unfortunately.

I was able to find the 168mph limit almost daily when I lived in Germany.

And about 160mph on Dottinger Hohe, the main straight of Nurburgring Nordschleife.

In M2 Comp highest I hit was 275kmph on highway. Super smooth and effortless. Very impressed with its handling.

It really depends geographically for me, in the states I can only hit 65. Mexico on the other hand she really opens up to 150 and still has some more. Stock M2.
