Was just on the M4 GTS forum where people were thrashing Jason Cammisa from Motor trend for critiquing the M4 GTS and implying that he was partial to US made cars.

Looks like even the European reviewers aren't too impressed with it.

Difficult to say Jason Cammisa is partial to US cars when he has 2 VWs...

People just can't admit that the GTS/F8X M just isn't better than the rest of the competition.

The car is just to big. Big cars get boring to drive.

Sometimes bmw has gold in there hands. But the next series is always bigger and less agile.

They did the same with the 1m coupe and m2.

The size of the 1m coupe was perfect. The m2 is bigger and more easy to drive fast. The m4 is even more easy to drive Fast.

So stop making sporty cars bigger. I drove today an 130i. It was so nice to steer that little car around corners.

For the M2 to get even one first place vote amongst those awesome sports cars speaks volumes. I'd like to see the final point tally.

LE things sold great used very much because they are great on its own, CSL for example. There are plenty of example of LEs that wasn't that sought after - m3 GTS for example, because it wasn't that great though it still arguably drives better than the GTS in question.

If you have to spend 150k on indulgence/luxury items hoping for a value appreciation, look somewhere else. Inside or outside of car category, you will find much better return of investment.

That being said, collectibility may or may not be one of the only few things left in GTS. Other than that, a powerful stripped sedan based coupe says it all.

I hope it will at least in USA since its first one we get here. But I am still rather surprised at the reviews. The people on the forum who got theirs seem impressed. Maybe they can shed some more light on this discrepancy.

You wouldn't spend 150k on something and bash it. There's going to be some bias with the owners.

More so than any magazine reviewer that's for sure. I think the m4 gts is an awesome package. I think it being promoted as a super
Limited track monster m4 sets high expectations which it is having difficulty fulfilling at its price point and especially at its marked up price point.

The M4 GTS is very expensive and might be trying to be a luxury car and a sports car at the same time. I have never felt comfortable with BMW forcing nav and other luxury features on all M car buyers.

No surprise here. Admittedly I take these reviews with a grain of salt. Everyone is different and has select preferences based upon a variety of factors. Who cares what a group of journalists say about a car over a three day time span? Only a few of the cars in the test would be a reasonable "daily driver". The others are cars for pure driving enjoyment. If I am going to the track or driving on a long journey I will be driving German, likely BMW. If I want to go for a drive and get pure enjoyment I will drive Italian. I remember when Randy Probst said the 1M was the worst car he had ever driven, that he hated the car. It seems to have done ok. I watched the MT video and didn't find it that harsh. More tongue in check than actual criticism. Regardless I am confident that most people will want to check out a M4 GTS when they see one as the likelihood of seeing one will be a rare experience.

Not only did the M4 GTS disappoint, they basically said it was inferior to the 5 year old E92 M3 GTS AND the new M2. For 911 GT3 pricing, the GT3 is a far superior choice.
