Do you prefer a 255 tire on the front over a 265 for the track for turn in? I have been thinking of going to a 265 wide tire as I currently run 255/35/18. My current set up is 255/35/18 F, 285/30/18 R. Have just added camber plates and new suspension (Ohlins), and feel I can go up in both front and rear. There are posters on another thread that say going wider is actually going to slow you down. Some say OEM set-up is the fastest.

I always ask myself if I am the fastest I can be with my actual setup (OEM or not) but eventually you will reason yourself that you are only competing against yourself and enjoying your day at the track and being confident about your car is more important.
As of now I tracked with these setups: - OEM size PSS ( Great precision, least grip but manageable) - OEM size PS4S (Best wet feeling, good grip) - 255/275 Cup2 (Best feeling most confidence inspiring) - OEM size R888R (Least confidence, loss of precision) - This year I'm going a different route with square 18x10 Apex wheels and probably Yoko A052 265/265 (they run very large) Or other brand 275/275 I run stock un-tuned OG LCI M2 and I don't need more traction exiting corners but I figure a S55 car would benefit. To answer your question, I think 255/275 is a great size, I mean it's the OEM M3/4 size and the wheels are the same. If you have more power, stretching the rear to 285 can help. I don't think you would gain much going to 265 at the front, what small gain you will make in grip you will lose in feel. If you want more rubber at some point you have to invest in larger wheels to have good results.

M2 competition will rub in front with 265/35/19....you need 255/35/19 or 265/30/19 to avoid rubbing I would avoid mixing the pss and cup 2, they do not offer the same dry and wet performance level |

Notable increase in traction. Still not remotely enough with a Carbahn tune (and a few other things), but much better than the PSS. I'll run 255/275 (again in -35 series) Cup2's on EC-7's at the track next season. I wish I was brave enough to run Cup2's as my daily tires. But at 120 treadwear or so, my wife would kill me if I had to replace tires that frequently. R.

Has anyone run the A052's on a stock M2C with stock wheels in:
255/35/19 275/35/19 ? Any clearance issues? They run a lot bigger than the PS4S Last edited by Charles33982; 12-22-2022 at 08:32 AM.. |

I would like to do same. Problem of A052 is that they are wider in this size than other tires...

You can see from the screen caps below that the 255 A052 is .7" wider than the stock 245 MPSS, which is 18mm, which is 9mm on the outside. The rear is .6" wider, which is 15mm, which is 7.5mm on the outside. There is no need to worry about the insides. You can go directly to the spacer thread and see what guys are using and if they experience rub or not, you don't even have to look up any tires. |

Good info, this helps, thank you.
In my experience their is a strong relationship between how wide the wheel is that you are mounting the tire on and how much clearance you get at the far edges of the tire(stretched tire vs not). |
