This post sums it up nicely 😂. So it looks like the new Bosh lock on the DME can't be transferred to the older DME. That is at least good news.

Following up on this a bit...I have a 2019 M2C and hence it can be tuned without any unlock worries, correct? Also, is the M2 CS 6MT tune available from a vendor that would load into a 2019 M2C? I seem to recall one vendor offering M4 CS tunes or something similar.

What news are you looking for? The 2020 M2CS requires a bench unlock and then it can be loaded with any kind of tune you wish.

For DME dates newer than 06/2020, it's a bit more challenging, but there are hints of bench unlocks slowly surfacing.

if looking for a mild tune as you referenced CS tune i highly recommend Dinan + tune which states approx. 66 hp and 55 + lbs torque. has matching warranty 4 yr 50 k bmw.. i did it to my 2020 m2c.. noticeable diff across the rev range and in particular up top in the rpm's where stock it falls a bit flat in lieu of how bmw tuned it down to separate from the m4. . see dyno results on their page and it 100 % matches how the car feels and drives.... if you add heat exchanger which i did not opt to due at least for now it would add another 25 hp and close to 40 ft lbs ..... my thought was since stock crank hub anted tp add moderate increase compared to full stage 1 but noticeable power with warranty was reason behind decision. along with the EL midpipe and MPE and car is totally transformed... good luck with your decision ....

You are right, this is the problem. Few months ago, we are not able to unlock de DME because there werent any software or any tool... Nowadays Is there any method to unlock it?

Thanks!

When was your car produced?
Do you have the date of production for the DME?

It's very unlikely BMW has Dinan approvals and warranty for cars in Spain.

Heat exchanger does almost nothing to power, especially on mild tunes. The car already has 2 heat exchangers which work fine. Dinan is running typical scare tactic marketing to sell it.

I don't think a HE adds to the power numbers. I think they are recommending a bigger HE to keep the IATs low so you can run the those increased numbers consistently w/o suffering from heat soak.

Land Rover will not service a car if the software is out of date. This is fine while in warranty but adds to the bill when not.

I can see BMW's side of it and wasting time trying to diagnose issues with unknown software changes.

Don't disagree, as it make sense. they do Show higher Hp gains with the HE but as we all know every manuf. claim gains for their products and the if they can be verified is another story . Good news is the tune makes a difference that is 100 % noticeable while driving.... just came back from a drive after the Gym and love this car.....

I didn't mean to be that strongly direct earlier, apologies if it came out as that... this is the phrase that I was concerned with:

"The stock cooling system heat soaks after only 3 pulls and allows the engine air intake temperatures (IAT) to rise dangerously. The ECU must then reduce engine power to prevent detonation. With the Dinan high-performance heat exchanger the vehicle does not heat soak even after 7 pulls; more than twice the effectiveness of a stock setup!"

A similar effect can be achieved by turning up the intercooler pump's duty cycle, as it doesn't run continuously.

But I get it, consumers like mods, and bigger:better.
Nothing wrong with buying it, I even considered it briefly when I had replace mine due to a rock strike. I chose stock in the end.
