I wasn't thrilled with the sound of the stock exhaust. Right after I bought my car my local dealer had a car on the lot with a M Performance exhaust installed. I had a chance to drive it and I was hooked. The overall tone is completely changed. The M performance exhaust is a much deeper tone and doesn't have the raspy tones of the original exhaust.

I paired it up with a valve controller so the exhaust valves are always open. It's exactly what I wanted. Since my car is not a daily driver the sound element was important for me.

Here's a very poorly done video I made when it was first installed...

Just giving another potential reason to pull the trigger.

Painting the muffler is easy and effective

I used Rust-oleum flat black high temp automotive paint. $9 at home Depot.

Looks awesome and has held up great!

Thanks for the tip! Recently took delivery of a 2021 M2C in HS so I think this will be my short-term solution until I upgrade the exhaust

i added the MPE for my car and justified the $4500 for the exhaust by opting to purchase the tips elsewhere for $360 m ( so$4500 ish vs the $6200 ish ) .. Exhaust looks and sounds great and like putting BMW M perf parts on the car where possible for not only resale but warranty etc.
