At some point the larger size of these intercoolers is going to be cancelled out by the lack of airflow to the radiator. Instead of boost temps causing issues on the track it'll just be coolant instead. Civic Type R already seeing this issue.

Nice!

Cool to see more people give this a go.

Its really not that bad of an install.

There’s definitely a balance, but what I’m seeing so far vs the Evo2 is on long back to back pulls 30F cooler air going into the intake and coming off the IC onto the radiator is helping with coolant temps.

Need to get her on track to confirm.

I just bought a Evo 2 comp with chargepipes but I haven't installed it yet. Should I consider returning this one and going with the Evo 3?

Do you plan in the near future to track the car a decent bit during >90F hot summer days, or custom tune beyond OTS Stg 2?

If so, I would switch. If not, Evo 2 or CSF/do88, etc, is fine.

How did you guys find a front brace from the M235i? I'm looking all over the place but I can't even find this specific part...

On all the oem part websites I can't find it for the M235i. I'm only getting ones for the M2, M3, and M4. Can't find this brace from the M235i anywhere. Does anyone have a part number or know where I can get one?

I can't even get a pic of the thing to pop up anywhere like I'm searching for the completely wrong thing.

I would appreciate the help, thank you.

Ah I see. I was actually thinking it was the other brace up front but it looks like that's the one that needs to be cut on both sides.

I will go ahead and order this.
Thank you for the crazy fast response!! I wasn't expecting that lmao

This is everything I'm ordering:
- M235i V-Brace
- Bolts for IAT sensor
- Longer bolts for new provided crash bar

Is there anything else I need or you would recommend?

Thanks a lot for the help!

That should do it.

I think mine came with the IAT bolts, but I can't confirm, so I'd still grab those. Also, I found some 75mm bolts for the crash bar that worked.

You should also decide how to connect the bottom two connections on the old M2 brace. As noted above we cut up my OEM brace, but some guys are fashioning up their own.

Bc of all the COVID craziness this year, I didn’t get to test her out on a race track on a hot summer day. However, check out this log:

https://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5f11...729b5ec78a69a2

This is V5 of the BM3 Stg 2+ E30 beta map a few months before the OTS was released, and the point of this log was to stress test the heat issue. You can see the ambient & IATs temps and how hard I was pushing the car with hard braking on my AP Racing kit in between pulls.

Engine & oil temps got close to pulling power, but when I’ve done similar tests on maps with less power and my Evo2, IATs would get 60F above ambient and the engine would overheat.

With the Evo3, the IAT/ambient delta got up to 27-29F during pulls and stayed there no matter what I threw at the car.

I still need to get it on track next summer with the OTS map that has even more power to test that I’ll be stable, but this is pretty encouraging.

EDIT: If you looked at this within the first 5min of me posting, I linked to the incorrect log. Now fixed.

So my Evo3 was installed today. Only problem is now I'm getting an error '102001: Air mass too high'.

Any ideas? Is it an issue with a sensor somewhere or is it simply because there's just too much airflow now? If it's airflow then I think the tune can be adjusted right?

Sounds like a leak?

I would double check the meth bungs are tight, and the fitment of the Evo3 is so tight on our car that it’s easy to mess up the o-rings. I’m guessing that’s your culprit.

Hey GerardzM and ZM2 can you guys elaborate a little more about what it entails to modify the m2 front brace for use with the Evo3 please. I just bought a ton of parts from nothingman and I'm pretty clear on the Evo3 install aside from the brace modifications. Thank you!
