M2C, OG M2, M3/4 Power Curve Comparison on Dyno
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com So, I was curious how the M2C power curve compares to the OG M2, and the M3/4. I slipped up and found this video... the dyno power curve discussion starts at 2:55. Interesting. Last edited by natmad; 04-08-2019 at 10:05 PM.. Reason: Addition |

This explains my impressions after test driving the M2 comp. I have an OG M2 with a BM3 stage 1 tune but was considering switching to the comp. After test driving the M2 comp I was actually surprised. I was expecting to feel a tangible change in performance (notably high-rev power delivery) but it actually felt underwhelming and slower than my OG M2. I guess the stage 1 tune with that instant torque kick makes a big difference! Don't get me wrong, the S55 in the M2 comp has a lot more tuning potential, but I'll stick with my OG until the next gen M2/M4 thanks for sharing.

My main take away from this was that black really is the best color for the F87

Love reviews that have objective data that you learn from instead of the typical nauseous subjective video reviews out there. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting - I thought it was assumed the S55 in the M2C continued to increase in power all the way to redline (similar to the M3 Comp), but it's essentially the same from 5k to redline. The M2C power curve at higher RPMs more closely resembles the OG M2 than the M3 Comp.

Great informative video!
The s55 is a superb engine with a lot of tuning potential!! Definitely not surprised the m2c power delivery doesnt match up against its 2 older brothers. |

Why should there be? My takeaway is that a well-tuned M2 makes about as much power as a de-tuned M2 Competition. The tuned M2 will be a tad quicker. I can live with that, especially since the comp is waiting to be tuned. There's a bit of power delivery differences, but again it's from the tune so that the m2 Comp and M3/4 can get the power down effectively. Both are fast cars, no need to nut swing lol.

Please share your knowledge
Forgive me if this is a stupid question, and not the right forum to ask.
I recently had my break-in service done on my 2019 M2 competition, and now would like to have the BM3 Stage 2 tune. Can someone please educate me on the process. For example, besides purchasing the BM3 license. What else would I need to purchase, or install in order to run Stage 2 BM3. If this is not the right forum for this question, can someone please direct me to the correct forum. Thank you for your time, and have a great day! |

I'm surprised this is new to some people. A tuned M2 is slightly quicker then a stock M2c...but let me tell you heat quickly takes the N55 down.
A tuned M2c is an absolute drift machine with a short wheelbase. The longer wheels base M4 would make the addition power far easier to handle. |

Brake horsepower (bhp) is the measure of an engine's horsepower before the loss in power caused by the gearbox, alternator, differential, water pump, and other auxiliary components such as power steering pump, muffled exhaust system, etc
