Catted DP adds about same amount of loudness as MPE does. Try 200/300 HJS cat +MPE setup and you won't be needing fake in cabin noise.

Again, OUTSIDE the car MPE sounds fantastic in all modes. And is plenty loud for me. I dont need anything louder outside the car.

What I'm not a fan of is 1) the drone + resonance 2) muted exhaust in the cabin.

I did turn ASD back on, which helps since the engine is so quiet.

Maybe I'll get used to it.

Its the world we live in now with turbo motors. I just traded in a 991.1 GTS where there were NO issues of awesome sound in the cabin with a high revving N/A motor growling right behind your head
Haha I totally understand your situation

MPE + ASD = Living with fake high pitched noise

MPE + ASD OFF = Quiet cabin with frustrating drone

In all honesty stock exhaust with perhaps a downpipe would have been a much better choice in hindsight

But is there any way to reduce the 3k drone? Or "it is what it is". I think I read in another thread the MPE removes the resonator? If so maybe that's the issue.

You need to add the stock resonator to the MPE

I am confused...... is your chart above saying with ASD on there is no drone? Or you notice it less since there is a bunch of fake noise playing in the cabin

As others have said..add catless downpipe. It will drastically increase the volume and amount of cracks/burble

Or even a catted DP. I have yet to hear anyone complain about the sound of their Fabspeed catted DP. I absolutely LOVE mine. Turned the whole car from blah to awesome in the sound department.

With ASD on and MPE it's so much random noise you don't really focus on the drone

With ASD off it's you, the silence in the cabin and the drone

I hate to admit it but ever since I turned ASD off the car lost a bit of its grunt

Options are: DP for potentially a better in-cabin exhaust noise, New Speakers to cover the drone, sell/exchange the MPE

ASD back on? No way. Unfortunately the mere idea of listening to fake engine noise makes my blood boil... It's a bloody M car not a Racing Simulator.

Anyone with a resonated MPE have feedback on if there's drone or not?

This is what I did. I didn't feel the need to go MPE after catless install. It's loud and if I want it louder I'll res delete

Much better $$ value for the sound

When I first got the MPE it sounded alright from the outside, but the inside sounded like crap. I got the ASD bypass harness and the sound clarity improved substantially, but the loudness went down a few decibels. This was to be expected since you removed all the artificial crap. Shortly after I got the fabspeed catted downpipes installed and the whole driving experience changed completely.

With the windows up, you can hear you are driving a track car and when you roll down the windows your ears will go slightly numb after a spirited driving run. If you have the MPE then you must get a fabspeed catted downpipes, zero regrets. On most days I get around 2-3 people pulling up to my car and complimenting me on how awesome the exhaust sounds. The shift sounds are super crisp with DSC off. The back fire sound like gunshots so you'll freak folks out on the road

Yeah, I wouldn't touch a catless DP with a 10' pole especially when the performance gains are just about the same as a catted one.

BMW claims the MPE does not make HP but it actually does. My dyno runs revealed around a 5+hp gain every time we ran it with flaps open then flaps closed so that is a gain

It's critical where resonator is mounted. From your picture it's a little upper than original place. How does that serve you?

You need to add the stock resonator to the MPE

Yeah, I actually changed my mind after researching and reading threads about the MPE. I didn't realize it was a full cat-back. I really like the way it looks with the m-performance difuser. I plan on getting this combo, with the CF tips.
