I honestly feel that an OG M2 with a stage 2 tune is the perfect balance of everything. The amazing sound and weight savings of the OG, with the power that it should have had from the factory.

Just to clarify - what they are saying is that IF you were to have an engine issue AND you had a tune on it, BMW COULD (and probably would) deny the warranty claim.

But/and, I think lots of people have the tune and have no issues.

Values still seem to be strong on the M2, no?

I would think if you leased one in 2016, you should be sitting on at least $5 over projected residual.

Yes.
You need a few extra parts.
Bought mine off a guy who took it off his F80, so don't know what the retail is, but the CF piece is the largest part of the total cost.

M2's leased like crap and no values are not 'strong'. A 55K MSRP 2016 is now worth high 30's to 40k tops.

I dont know...roughly $5k per year depreciation cost on a 3 year old M2 sounds pretty good to me

I'm at a loss as to what you guys are talking about.

The $55K 2016 would have been given residual value around $26K by BMWFS at the end of the 3 year lease - which would be coming up shortly.

Sounds like the M2 is doing really really well and BMW was off on its crappy residuals.

Even if it ends up at $35K this summer, that's still a 63% residual - which is incredibly strong.

Certainly don't give your cars away! I just did a global search for used M2s and there are only a couple available for sale under $40k.

On KBB, 2016 M2 with 32k miles in "Good" condition range is $34k-$38k (Trade In)...

Therefore if your residual was at $24k, you have some equity to work with. Not sure if the same can be said about AMG, right?

Do your leases come with a tube of lube in the US??...my residual on the 2018 is $41K on a PP of $71K ...that's in Moosebucks (CAD)...but still...it's a 57% residual on a 42 month lease, not the 47% on a 36 month lease you are suggesting. You guys are getting robbed.

Yep, I seem to remember it was 45/47/48 for a 36 month lease (15/12/10 thousand miles). The 2-series residuals have always been crappy (and very interesting to hear that yours are so much better!).

Now I have to be careful because there are few on this board who will say that I'm not seeing the big picture and it still makes sense to some people to lease the 2-series (it rarely does).

I was thinking the same thing. So people expect cars to not depreciate? 2016 $100k M5s are going for low 50s with 20k miles, not much more than the 55k M2.

Definitely not "salty". I bought an '18 M2 knowing that the M2C is coming. Love the N55 engine sound and much prefer how the LCI M2 looks over the M2C. For me, the M2C front end, wheels and seats look a little too, umm, gaudy/ostentatious. The M2 is a more classy and classic M IMO and will always be regarded as such.

Of course the M2C is an amazing car, I just prefer the M2.
