I don't think there's any doubt that the new car will be faster, perhaps much faster, than the original one. I am assuming that the tweaks made to the M3/4s since launch will be leveraged here, and I really hope that the car puts the power down effectively.

I just had my rear tires replaced on the F80, and decided to go with a wider tire than stock - it really does feel like the car handles the power better with a little extra rubber. Makes me wonder if the 788Ms will be any different from that standpoint.

No, you're not the only one, this has come up in previous threads. There are those who love the M3/4 seats, and those who don't. My wife and I fall into the latter camp, we spent about 45 minutes in an M4 with standard seats and the same in an M4 with the Comp pack seats, and while they look sweet they sat like hell. We both preferred the M2 seats, and it wasn't close. But body size may have something to do with it - she's only 4'11 and about 100lbs, I'm 5'8" and 165 with a small frame. It may be a track thing, as I've read plenty of posts from people who track their M3/4 and those seats are great on the track. But no way I'd live with them every day. What you may not see here on the forum in the coming months are comments from people who purchase the upgrade seats because they look cool - but without ever actually trying them first - and then discover that following the herd doesn't always work out.

wish I followed this before I leased a 330e since my m235 lease is expiring in a month. Got a great deal on the 330e loaner though. Hopefully the m2 comp sticks around till 2020. Since now I know what I want my next car to be.

I'm in the same boat. I'm a large dude, and sport seats is an immediate walk away. The base bolsters kill my legs and I squirm.

More or less the discussion.

The M2 Competition was borne when sales of the regular model far exceeded expected predictions. And that introducing special editions are now easier to justify, Just ask Porsche.

There are New markets that are always opening for those special cars that have a true heritage to motorsport and M that will increase for them too.

What they disclosed was that M2 is tracking at 40-50% above initial expectation in terms of sales, and there is further growth and demand for progressive Performance cars like the M2 Competition,M3 CS,M4 GTS and CS and beyond.

What they announced that night refers to they see more opportunity for special models now than they did in the past. Which is great news for enthusiasts but only if market conditions and customer demand allows.

The M3 has reached its end with the CS. But they still see potential with the current M4 but they know there are customers that would especially demand more from the M2 but the means have to be justified.
I like the sound of that very much

Give those special editions a 6 speed manual like Porsche did with the GT4, Spyder. GT3 and 911R please

The seats are not standard, they are an option. Along with the brake package and the wheels pictured. Apples to apples, with no options...it very well could be a $5k bump in msrp.
Ah very interesting. I'm betting $1,995

I call my pops a large mammal - and he has commented on my F80's seats being hard to, um, negotiate before. I think he likes the stock seats in the M2 though.

Maybe the initial price increase will be pretty small - say 3K or something, but if you want the other stuff (seats, wheels, brakes), you're going to be into the mid-60s easily.

Are the side bolsters on the sport seats adjustable? As a lot of Shelby GT 350 owners found, the Recaros were very narrow at the top and forced you to sit in the seat with the top of the bolsters poking you in the back instead of sitting all the way back in the seat. It’s not necessarily an overall body size issue - just that some people have wide shoulders.

Oh my thoughts were just the seat option box for 2K. All in I think 7 to 8K.

That would be a very good deal - you could get out the door in the low 60s, which isn't bad at all, considering...I hope you're right.

Oh that's just it. For the equipment you're getting it could be 10K above 2018 base and it's still a great deal when you consider the segment. The M2 already punches above its weight.

By the way, haven't seen much discussion on how "white" HKS seems to look in these pictures (which I happen to like).

I don't think the leaked pics are probably to be trusted on this front, however, so that will be interesting to see.

Totally.

$64,500 for a loaded M2 Comp is a steal compared to a base M4 at $68,700.

My guess is the latter...this all started with the 1M from that perspective. That experiment proved that BMW could make true M cars outside the 3, (4), and 5.

So along comes the M2...which sells better than expected...so we get the M2C and they see that people DO want smaller and more focused M cars, even in the X division. And so now we stand to get the X3M and X4M as well...

No. The X3M launches later this year.
In regards to the X3M etc? Yes they are considering Competition Packet.
The front is similar to the new Jaguar F-Pace SVR but with more Aerodynamic sculpting. You can even say the Jaguar looks like an M.
Or do you mean the market for further heritage inspired models of say M2 and M4?

The Xbox one X version of this car should be awesome . It doesn’t look or seem too hardcore for the streets on paper so far. Can’t wait to see real pics
