Buying an M2CS? What age group do you fit into?

Another user commented on the age of people buying an M2CS so I figured let's do a poll...

We are at 2.5% (ish) of total possible respondents.. I think its safe to say a majority are 35-55 which is where I'd bet BMW was targeting for this car. Actually the original point of the poll was to see if people were over or under 35 but I got curious to the actual numbers. I was going to open it to the M2 in general but I realized given the price difference it would affect things. I'm almost curious to know where the majority of competition owners fall as well mostly for comparisons sake.

My guess is the competition shifts a few years earlier, but not by a lot just because of financials. 5 years ago I probably couldn't have swung the car, now not an issue. Just part of where things get to in career and other things as you age. I'm another 39'er.

For all the jokes about old guys in Porsche's and Corvette's much of that is driven off of the income moreso than the car styling/demographic I think.

I totally agree with this. 5 years ago I don't even want to think about.. but let's just say I couldn't afford to push someone else's M2..

The idea that it’s a kids car is ridiculous

How many kids can afford a 90+k car unless they have inheritance money or hit a gold mine somewhere

Yeah I tend to agree but in all fairness perhaps it was being compared to what some of the younger whipper snappers are doing to their used rides.. I can see the point of view but it's not realistic as demonstrated by this poll.

There was another thread where someone stated that It looks like a kids car and they couldn't imagine anyone over 35 buying an M2CS. He deleted his post however. (in case anyone was wondering why all us old farts are so triggered! )

The M2CS is great for any age. Ive been told by an M3CS owner and long time enthusiast that the M2 is one of BMW's funnest cars, so if you want to have fun...... doesn't matter how old you are. The M2CS just catches your eye in a way the M2C doesn't.

I Drove a 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 for 10 years, im 30 now. I was going to buy a M2C because it was the first car that got me feeling like that mazdaspeed 3 did. Then i learned about about the M2CS...... as i said.... it catches your eye. I could swing it financially and after seeing the M2CS the M2 was not as appealing any more. Very happy with my decision to get the M2CS even though the comp was much more affordable, its just not the same....

PS... that speed 3 was only 24K brand new... really a great car. sold it for 5k last year.

I had a heavily tuned Mazda Protege MP3 for a long time... and we had a couple of Speed3's go through the family, and still have friends with them. Great cars! I'm excited for the turbo AWD Mazda3 even if it isn't a Speed3. Love my Mazda's still

It would be interesting to compare the age distribution for that for M2 OG and M2C.

Isn't that interesting. The only other cars I've bought have been Mazdas (except for a boring one-off experience with a Lexus). My first car was a Mazda and my most recent one for my daughter a Mazda 3. They're the closest thing in my mind to how a BMW drives. I think they have a similar philosophy though at a lower price point. Zoom Zoom!

My oldest is doing track days with me, and I didn't think he should learn with the 1M....so I got the perfect momentum car to teach him with.....This is my track car collection:

Agree with the BMW-Mazda spiritual connection. I appreciate Mazda as a smaller, focused car company. Between wife, son and self we are a 3 BMW + 1 Mazda family. Granted the Mazda is a CX-9, but for all the same reasons .. drove every other 3-row SUV on the market and the CX-9 was the only one that engaged me as a driving enthusiast. Not the quietest or most luxurious, but the best driver's truck. This was before the X5 was offered with a 3rd row, BTW (though not really interested in BMW X-anything).
