There are one or two aftermarket exhausts for the F8x that also use a single exhaust and that changes the tone of the exhaust quite a bit. The E46 M3 also has that metallic raspy sound the F8x has, which other straight six BMW's doesn't really have. E46 also has a dual exhaust system... Maybe the question is, why did you think it was identical to the 235s intake in the first place? In the same way you thought the engine was largely the same, or do you have a source of this misinformation?

No. I think what we are seeing is a photo with the headlights on. Didn't you notice Artemis awesome pics of M235i instruments vs M2 gauges. Look at the last two pics of M2 gauges. When the headlights are on... that fuel gauge needle turns red, due to the dash/instrument lights being red at night. http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...0&postcount=34 headlights OFF... headlights ON...

And a N54 335i with a custom 3" single exhaust (in my opinion, the single exhaust car sounds much more like a N55/M2 than the dual exhaust N54 335i's) |

Should be the same as for a M235i. Here is the sport wheel with a red stripe, w/o paddles... p/n 32302230188 http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=32_2220

Didn't you see the news story about the F16 flying low over NYC the other day? That was the pilot, swooping in to ask him what # his 1M was and if they could trade for the day.

Is it confirmed that this video is the stock exhaust? It's clearly a BMW test car, but some have been seen testing with the M Performance exhaust.

RE: Dual exhaust N54 vs. S55...
Hmmm...you may be onto something then. And yeah, that OP's vid sounds and AWFUL lot like an N55 on BMW's PE. If that's the stock, great!

I think it sounds great!
Lately I've been finding my 1M a bit too quiet at idle... It's fun to remember back to my first test drive though when I said to myself, "this sounds amazing, I'll never need it any louder!"
