I tried to find the number of "M approved dealerships", but couldn't come up with a figure. I suspect that only 1/3 of dealerships could be high volume M dealerships. My SA estimates 25% of dealerships.

it would be difficult to figure out since BMW doesnt release sales numbers of each dealership.
Obviously it'll be in larger metro cities. Probably dealerships with larger inventories. Basically dealerships thats more like a amazon/walmart model high volume low margin. These are the dealerships that tend to get more allocations, and are will to sell stuff at a loss to move the metal. With covid19...i see a lot of the smaller mom and pop type dealerships going bk or getting bought by large auto groups like autonation. |

The dealer always tries make you think these cars are rare but there really not. A Kia stinger is more rare then a m4. |

I didn't realize there were "///M Certified Dealers" (indicated as such when you search dealers on bmwusa.com)
I always thought this idea of M-specific dealerships sounded great, but probably not planned for the US: BMW M to open more M Division-specific dealerships https://www.bmwblog.com/2018/01/13/b...c-dealerships/ My dealer (not an M Certified dealer) built a separate building called the M Center that only housed M cars, disconnected from the main dealer building. |

I get your point and I agree they are not rare cars, but I was curious what the numbers are (and I don't see many Stingers).
LCI M2 is definitely rarer: 16,806 Stinger 2018 sales (US) 2,828 M2 2018 sales (US) I couldn't find M4 sales. 4-series as a whole dropped 40% in 2019 from 31,379 to 18,621, but probably more Stingers than M4s (in 2019 at least). No idea of M2C production numbers (but I assume more than OG M2). 13,884 Stinger 2019 sales (US) 18,621 4-series 2019 sales (US) Of course these numbers are only as good as the sources: OG M2 numbers: https://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1404565 BMW 2018/2019 sales: https://www.best-selling-cars.com/us...es-in-america/ Stinger 2018/2019 sales: https://www.goodcarbadcar.net/kia-st...es-usa-canada/ |
