I'd be hugely surprised with the B58 S58 appearing in this gen F series...

...but I said the same from early spy photos on the S55 appearing, it felt like pie in the sky. Hindsight of courses makes it all seem logical with emissions etc in mind but goes to show how perhaps the original M2 was still perhaps a small scale 'suck it and see' development and here we all are, seems very much to have worked.

Well you don't want the M2C guys to feel left out. Change the engine on them too. Lol. I still think the M2CS will have the S55. My guess is they are already working on the next gen setup, or there will indeed be a very low production M2 beyond the CS

Waiting for the new gt4 and/or the m2cs, so my mind is all over the place

Good week to all.
I am in the same situation as you. Going back and forth between M2 CS and GT4. Looks like M2 CS will be cheaper and more obtainable. I need a PDK/DCT so a manual GT4 will not work. Porsche options are really expensive and add more dollars. It will be interesting later this year when both are unveiled and more information is available.

Agreed.

The outgoing entry level M car won’t get the new engine before the flagship, next generation M3/4.

If you can swing a GT4, then this is no contest, cost be damned.

It´s a great situation to be on, just the waiting game sucks, but want to buy a car that i will not sell for a few years, so will wait and try to get something a bit more special that a comp/gts.

For the gt4 think will have to wait more then a year and the M2cs is going on the same timeline, late presentation to the public. it´s a 2020 car, after ordering it´s a +/- 4 months wait.

So in one year we will have a new car i hope

Best regards

Get the GT4, there’s no contest

I decided instead of spending the dollars to upgrade m2 to m2cs, I’ll just upgrade gt4 to gt3. They are fantastic cars. Once you go P car you never go back.

Good point - however, the X3/4Ms are new models (aka, haven't ever existed before now), so perhaps that's the qualifying difference?

Could be really interesting if the M2CS got the S58, and I will happily eat my crow in the event that happens.

I´m a sick person, don´t want to offend anybody , every car is special but for example when i see a 718 gts with it´s 4 Cylinder engine, i don´t feel nothing special about it.

For me the competiton it´s my neighbors fault as i see 3 everyday soo getting a bit normal...

best regards

Maybe, but in any case I think you are correct, I don’t there is any chance we will see the S58 in the F87.

Check below what's gonna happen if you bet on "B58/S58 engine" instead of on "S55 engine" for the F87 M2 CS.

BMW F87 M2 CS = S55 engine - 3.0 litre - 331kW

It´s a great car, just be careful when doing a pre purchase inspection, put the car on a lift and check for suspention arms play and losing oil from the gearbox.

Will M2C get the Orbit Grey 763M wheels or the Black ones? Hmmm?

  • M3 CS and M4 CS: 19" 763M Orbit Grey front (ET29) + 20" 763M Orbit Grey rear (ET40);
  • M2 and M2 Competition: 19" 763M black or gold (ET29) front + 19" 763M black or gold (ET40) rear (M Performance Parts);
  • missing link for M2 or M2 Competition: 19" 763M Orbit Grey (ET40) rear.
AFAIK, M2 CS test mules are built with two types of 19" 763M wheels. Though Orbit Grey would definitely make sense IMHO, it looks like it's black and gold for the time being.

Soon 19" 763M wheels in Orbit Grey will be sporting my M2. Special request (delivery of black ones that got repainted Orbit Grey).

That is a very smart idea. Those orbit grey 763s are crazy expensive and as you said not available in 19" for the rears. Since I have rock grooves on my 788s from the huge M2C calipers. I'm thinking of just powder coating them orbit grey for the hell of it. It's a new wheel stop gap move.
