Same here! Note: my VIN doesn't show an open recall anyway.

I think the system is used to make the automatic emergency calls when you crash, i.e. when airbags get deployed.
In EU the system is mandatory in all new cars produced after March 31st, 2018.

Yes. My 3/16/21 build has fullscreen CarPlay from the factory. I believe it was introduced with NBTEvoX, the final release that made it into the M2c. iDrive 6 lives on in the Supra.
My '21 arrived around Thanksgiving 2020 so an Aug/Sept build. No full screen.

Just got the call about mine today since I have an oil change scheduled for Monday. With mine being an April build, I'm sure it will only be programming, no retrofitting. Not looking forward to re-coding all my bimmercode stuff...

Anyone know if this will remove my full screen Apple car play if I proceed with the update?

Yes, new SW version is NBTevo_Y21432J. BimmerCode can't access head unit anymore.

WOAH, this changes everything! So Bimmercode can no longer be used after this software update? Is this just a temporary thing? Is Bimmercode working on a solution?

I doubt it, this isn't new software. Been around for like a year.

That's what I would have figured, but curious to know what Frank K has to say about it if he's already done the update.

I got this recall done as well.
I'd do it all over again, it's for safety reasons.

What are the changes that impact safety?

Thanks

This. We don't drive Tesla's, no need to upgrade software.

The last "upgrade" I was forced into removed Spotify integration entirely from my car.

BMW upgrades to me are mostly downgrades.

It helps with SOS feature, and fixes some bugs related to Satellite communication.

If you don't care then it's up to you. I like to drive to national parks and scenic routes away from the city at times, so to me it's a reasonable upgrade in case I get stranded. I don't care about crap Spotify and other useless apps.

Does this update undo Bimmercode changes that were already made? I've killed the lawyer screen, radio off when door opens, deactivated fake engine noise. Don't want to lose any of those.

Is this true for the full screen carplay coding from kubax86 (sorry I don't know how to tag users in Bimmerpost) or just via BimmerCode?

I’ve reached out to Kubax86 for his input on this and will share his feedback here.

Thats helpful, thanks. Doesn't apply to my use case so I'm skipping it!

Any comprehensive DME remap (which is how BMW dealers do it) will reset coding to regional defaults, so yes.
