Ahh. I’d been seeing that too when starting third gear pulls. Pre-throttle boost had been hitting 23-24psi in several guys’ logs, while he was using throttle closure to keep manifold boost pressure at target.

Seems like this started when he released the 6MT no shift lag update, which keeps boost high in the intake tract for no lag/shift delay.

No harm possible to the car, just sounds like he’s just dialing it in a little more so he doesn’t have to lean on throttle closure and boost control as much when pre-throttle spikes up.

I’ll be looking forward to V6.0 once you all dial it in!

For any stock turbo guys not going for big power, but want to keep fast spool a little bit better top end than stock, check this out: https://x-ph.com/vargas-n55-stage-1-jb-upgrade-kit-new/

Looks like turbo + install could be ~$1500 all-in, which is pretty good! And, I'm sure if you ping Mike at XHP he'd hook you up with more goodies.

Great option and deal. I'll probably go that route, want to wait to see what all the hype is about the pure 800 is when it's available.. then choose

The xph sale shows $1028 for those options on my side.

And, it’s an easy install, so $1500-$1600 all in gets it on the car if you’re taking it to a shop.

Altho, you should do the turbo inlet and DV at the same time, and that’s where pinging Mike directly can get you some deals on the other items.

where's this vargas turbo stand as compared to pure stage 1 and the dinan turbo?

I couldn't tell you with certainty, as most folks aren't doing side-by-side comparo's of the Stage 1 turbos, but supposedly the Dinan and Vargas are the same, and the PS1 isn't drastically different.

The price for the Vargas is pretty good, tho. Certainly cheaper than what I paid for my Dinan 3-yrs ago.

Your logs look pretty solid to me, except for one of them that's a little messy.

I wouldn't even be concerned with the HPFP dip you mentioned until it drops below 2000-psi. When I mentioned the HPFP issue I had, I was seeing it drop to 1700-psi and lower and getting some drops in power. That only happened to me <40F.

Question: Were you getting wheel spin at the beginning of third gear? There's MAF and throttle angle drop at 3500-rpm before it recovers and looks fine in 4th & 5th.
Zack, Halim stated the same issue as you mentioned here so made another version for me. Take a look for the new logs. Today is warmer at 65F and started seeing a bit timing pull though.

Did halim increase your hpfp targets?
Mine seems to max at 2450 high in rpm range.

Yes he and Chris from Dorch did for me because it caused the noise in the winter.

Overall the logs look pretty good.

There is some timing pull as IATs get >90F, and I think you're just seeing some new tune adjustments that Halim is incorporating as IATs get high.

All you can do to combat that is get a larger FMIC or add more ethanol to see if it helps, but I don't think you have to worry about it hurting your car if you're just street driving and doing some pulls here and there.

We can easily get overly concerned with timing pulls but not all corrections (even if the same value) mean the same. There're evidence in the log for me to conclude those iginition corrections are more than acceptable. I wouldn't even look.

Be peaceful in mind. Test again in summer.

Now that my Nostrum HPFP is available in the BM3 OTS maps. I'm going to schedule some dyno time to do some pulls with Stage 2+ E30 and see how it looks.

Additionally, I reached out to PTF to check on the status of their latest stuff on the N55 platform (antilag, flex-fuel, multimap, etc). They said its their current project, while they do not have an ETA right now, its being actively worked on. Hoping they get it out soon so I can test that as well

Sweet. Please remind of us your mods when you post your Dynojet curves. We’re starting to get some good comparison data bn cars!

Yup. Will do. I also have my graphs from when the car just had the OTS Stage 2 map (before fueling mods were installed) on the same dyno. So we should be able to get some decent deltas from that anyways.

Looking like I may be able to get on the dyno next week.

What did the noise sound like? I'm hearing a noise from that area (only when I accelerate)ever since I installed my dorch stage 1.. kind of metal/chirp whistle and it's driving me nuts..its not the belt and or tensioner either.

It's the rail pressure. A tuner can adjust this for you. If you google "hpfp chirp bimmerpost" you'll find quite a bit about it.

Nice day out, did my first launch control launch with the OTS map.

Let’s just say I shouldn’t have to worry about breaking anything bc it completely shredded my 285 4S’s thru first & second, even with launch control on!

Hah!

I’m trying to chase up bm3 support and Dorch about getting the new calibration integrated into the bm3 Dorch settings. Hopefully they pull through and sort it soon.

Thanks for all the R & D you guys have done on the N55. I no longer feel the need to change to an M2C.
