Way annoying map update message.
Yesterday I got the little envelope icon on my idrive display. Going to my messages it suggested updating my map. I’m set to auto update and my maps seem fine, so I deleted the message. Got in the car again and there’s a new message for the same thing. Deleted again. Seems I now get a new message about this every time I start the car. It’s making me nuts and it only started yesterday.
Anyone else get this and more importantly how he heck do I make it stop?

I got it too and I’m confused as to whether it will update itself automatically and when. I thought it will update and go away next time I start the car but it didn’t.

I have the message, too. It hasn't offered to download anything. I found a general update available, and installed it via USB, but it wasn't what this thing wanted. I also can't seem to get rid of the message, too.
What I think is going on is that the auto download is just the regional maps, which I've gotten many times, not a full upgrade...and that's what it wants. The actual Nav software is still a 2018 version. I've never seen this in 7 years of owning a BMW...it's wonky. Are we going to have to take our cars in to get updated? And pay something for it? In that case, can we just buy an FSC code and do the update from USB ('cause I honestly do not have time to go to the dealership for anything non-critical). |

I’ve gotten the message about an update pending and installed it a bunch of times. That one restarts your nav system. This is different. I’ll try to call tomorrow and post here if I fine something useful or frustrating.

I had a chance to call today. It’s a bug for sure. It did show up on Friday and they leaned of it this morning when their phones lit up.
There is no map update needed, it’s a false message. They’re working with their map provider to resolve the issue. He said hopefully it’ll be gone in a couple of days. Still annoying, but at least someone’s working on it.

Seems it’s fixed now. Whoo hoo. It’s silly but it really bugged me.

I had the same issue, but just deleted the notification. In the notification screen hit the option button and select “delete notification”. It hasn’t come back since for me, but sounds like it’s re-occurring for some.

Got the same persistent message and there was no way to download or update anything.
I entered my M2's VIN on the BMW Software Update page and it said I was up to date. Ignored the message and it went away after a few days. Here's the Software Update page: https://www.bmw.com/en/footer/software-updates.html Cheers.
